I heard people talking about Glavie's earlier works as being great hyperpop tracks. So, I decided to check this out. God, that was a mistake. I would consider this as uwu soft boi emo and not hyperpop. There is nothing inherently wrong with this, however I personally just do not like the sound. A sound between emo and alt-pop like MGK and or AJR. Where it sounds hollow to me as a person who frequently listens to emo. I do not want to come off as anthony fantano and being a person who doesn't ... read more
They are the next big band coming through diy/midwest emo. No doubt in my mind after hearing this
I really want to like Equipment, but I can't :(
It sounds like pop punk went DIY emo, but missed what made them both great genres. Cool concept if they can push through and perfect the sound. Right now, however, it is not perfected.
The mix is weird and the vocals are pop punked mixed without the hooks to back it. The guitar parts at times are really cool though. The drums sound off or out of place through a few songs.
I will stress this one more time. If they can perfect the mix and have ... read more
"Femcel girlboss" music is a bag of music that has many lows. However, there are a few artist, that at times, break the mold of the lows and create something fun to listen to. It's fun to hate on insert popular thing, however You Wish is just a really fun song. Trash boi is ok/mid, however You Wish is a song I wouldn't mind coming on the radio and humming along to. That to me is a mark of an impressive song especially for the stereotypical songs from this genre or type of music. I am ... read more
It's like listening to a circle before it became a circle. It's good, but when you have bands that came after this. It's hard to come back to this project. Respect for bringing back midwest emo
Do they innovate on emo? No, but dang this is some darn good emo. It's like if marietta pushed their sound further while keeping the emo roots of American football. I mean that as a really good complement. Great record
I'm surprised that post-emo isn't a tag on this album yet. This album screams experimental emo from the start to end. Using so many genres and forms to create one of the best albums of this year. I wouldn't even put this next to bands that are midwest emo because of how far this album goes beyond the genre. This album even gets into skramz territory which is sick
I'm not even sure what I want from the front bottoms. I think I want them to literally not have a budget to write an album and see what they make. Much of the reasons why I have grown to dislike the front bottoms is due to the albums having production. I want the record to sound like its coming from a tin can from the bottom of the ocean. Something that will make you turn your head like what the frick is this
I haven't liked a front bottoms record since Talon of the Hawk, so I have low expectations when it comes to the front bottoms. This just sounds like they copied and pasted much of what made their first two records good without the charm. The song is ok with some decent layers. Most likely will not listen to it much unless some miracle happens. Outlook was much better
If this dude made one song like this. It would be a joke song that wasn't that funny however. This guy has made one too many songs about the same thing to be funny anymore. If this is meant to be serious, I don't even have a clue how to view this music, but in a negative light
The lyrics are great, but this album has issues with issues stemming from issues. It kind of just felt boring especially coming out after No closer to heaven (That album made me cry). No closer to heaven did this album better. I will probably give this album 2 more listens before I fully write this album off. The rest of the wonder years discography is so much better than this project.
Pwned! was much more of a fun listen. This album starts to sound like nintendocore and not emo with electronic influence. Granted a few songs on the last album was starting to sound like nintendocore though. This album is also mastered really low.
Imagine where this band could be if this album went absurdly hard.
It's a fun My Space era emo album with synths. Sometimes, it sounds like the worse parts of Fever by Panic at the Disco mixed with Fall out boy. At it's best, it's fun emo music from 2007. I recommend listening to this if you want to listen to my space emo and are wondering what that sounded like.
I have listened to every wave of emo at this point from rites of spring all the way to newer acts like pinkshift. As a connoisseur of pop punk and emo. This is the only album where I believe, it doesn't miss the whole run time. Every song hits right where it needs to hit. Every song is memorable and mostly unique from the last. Leaving a long lasting impact on me as a listener. I listened to this album for the first time four years ago and this record still gives me chills returning back to ... read more
I don't know why "Songs About Death" got thrashed on. It is one of two songs I return to this album for.
Will say, the rest is generic pop punk/emo. This record doesn't do anything special other than the lyrics being more "mature" then most pop punk. There is something to be said about the wonder years keeping very mature lyrics in pop punk/emo because lyrics are rough in these genres. That is the only reason I rated this album a 50 plus and also having a few good songs. ... read more
