Teminite - Raise The Black Flag

Looking for a pirate-themed dubstep album? No? Well, your loss.

To be fully serious, it's insane how such a ridiculous idea of a concept pirate-themed dubstep album can work so well. The theming of this project is executed flawlessly, and the story is genuinely fun to follow. I can't say that I was a huge fan of pirates and overall pirate aethetics beforehand, however this project really made me love the theme, as this was one of my favorite concept albums I've had the pleasure ... read more

Teminite - Stardust In The Universe

Although I find the vocals a little too corny, I absolutely adore the impactful, euphoric drops (and the microdrop section, which also is really good), and the lead melody which gives me goosebumps when listening to it. Teminite's best this year, no doubt.

A nice, and superior extension to their "A Faint Glow of Bravery" LP, where my problems I originally had with it aren't that present.

This score should have been higher.

This album has a lot of potential, and although my relatively low score, I can very much appreciate the atmosphere and care that was put throughout this project. However, my biggest problem when it comes to this album, is that it feels too repetitive. It's not that I have anything against repetitiveness in music, however some of the tracks I find to be annoying to listen because of very distinct sounds that repeat for the entirety of one track, and it ... read more

splitter - SKUNKBEAT!

Major beastboi. vibe. The drops are a little too overwhelming for a casual listen, but I weirdly enjoy it. Destructive, but also a fun track.

MUST DIE! - Kick Back

I'm surprised by how much I enjoy it, nice flows.

Whales - Two Worlds Apart

This album is a mess.

It seems like this is more of a collection of unfinished ideas than a full-fledged project. The length of it doesn't help, as for a 17-track album, it takes less than 40 minutes to listen to the whole thing, which to me felt like eternity, because after getting halfway I was so bored by it. No tracks on this record connect to each other, which makes it feel very all-over-the-place, and honestly, i don't find most of the ideas that good to begin with. Most of ... read more

Chime - Aetherborne

The greatest journey I've ever been to.

Honestly, Chime was always a hit-or-miss artist for me. Some tracks of theirs clicked on me, some didn't. However, somehow, this album has managed to throw away any doubts I ever had, and single-handedly made Chime one of my favorite artists of all time. Everything about this record is perfection. The storytelling, emotional impact, world-building, sound design, variety, fun… it's all there. Considering the fact that it's the ... read more

Dyatic - The Third Kind

Probably the most fun I've ever had listening to an album.

Although it's a concept album, and I didn't really care about the story throughout it as it didn't really interest me that much, I still believe it to be one of the best bass albums I've ever heard. Hell, it's actually one of the best albums I've ever heard PERIOD. Almost every track is designed to make you and your brain go absolutely nuts. When I got into this record without knowing anything about ... read more
