This album feels like watching a rainstorm from a bay window then seeing a rainbow emerge.
I found this Album through 'Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence' and I stayed because of the other beautiful piano pieces in the album. I had some disdain for '1919' and 'M.A.Y. In The Backyard' but all other songs make me want to listen to the originals or see the movies they are apart of. Ryuichi Sakamoto is an amazing composer and pianist. I will be listening again.
This album feels very conceptual, very throw at the wall and hope it sticks. All the songs were produced beautifully but in specific songs ('The WhatsApp Shakespeare', 'Life Boat', 'I Hate The Way I Look Today') the lyrics fail. The collaborations are fun especially regarding the ones with family like her grandfather in 'Fields.'
