This album feels like something that only could have existed in the 90s. That cover, the songs, the feel. This album feels like working a shitty job and getting in your cheap car on a sunny day. Warm and relaxing, but not particularly luxerious. You feel decent, you even got some old cashew's to chew on. There's a fine scent in the air, even if it's just from your car's air freshener.
Hello little cozycore album! While this record draws inspiration from the 90s indie sound, we are likewise shown tones of the psychedelics found in the 60s. Very calming and gentle for the ears. Something to have while relaxing on a calm summer day.
Not bad for a member of KISS. This being the work of the best member of KISS, the only respectable member mind you. It ain't impressive, but decent for what it is. Much better than most of what KISS has ever put out.
Possibly the best debut of all time? ...eh maybe. Extremely solid nontheless, no skips and a truly amazing effort from a band that was barely anything at this point in time. This record screams the word indie, and puts the modern usage of it to shame. Slanted and Enchanted is the definition of cool, while still not being pretentious.
Not that great, but any great band starts from somewhere. Mostly forgettable but charming tracks. Debris Slide and Angel Carver Blues slap though
Quite the charming album. This thing feels like finding an old toy that you used to play with as a child, very cute and nostalgic. It is frontloaded, but remains good throughout. Why does Poppies kinda sound like that one song from the illumination version of The Lorax though?
We have now left the incredible fun that was S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and entered the realm of Make Yourself. Switching up their sound entirely is quite the bold move. This statement does not hold true for Make Yourself however. This album is a good example of how commercialization can kill creativity. Their first studio album was bold and abrasive, and this is neither. What made the band fun is now gone, but what remains is still decent. Most songs go hard and are well made. But there is just something ... read more
Incubus try to release one last burst of energy and fails. Much like the uninspired "A Crow Left of the Murder", Light Grenades maintain this soulless soundscape. Songs have catchy choruses, they have good guitar parts. But risks are never taken, flavor is never found and the colors have become dulled. Incubus has progressively watered themselves down since S.C.I.E.N.C.E., and show a last glimmer on this record. Well, saying glimmer is an overstatement. Light Grenades is surprisingly ... read more
Even though this is their worst record, it is not a nosedive. This is quality-wise as good as their debut. So what keeps this record from being as good if not better? This thing suffers massively from a terrible sequencing. You may think that something so minor wouldn't matter all that much, but it does. The deluxe version "Farewell Horizontal" has a better sequencing, but still could have had an even better one. This still slaps just like all other Pavement albums, and features ... read more
A short treat of an EP. Clocking in at just 11 minutes, this EP wastes no time at all. Every song slaps, and could have been on Slanted & Enchanted based on quality. This is just a really cool project overall. It has a dope cover and two "interlude" snipbits which add a lot of character. The intro snipbit to the EP is quite the excruciating listen though
A punk like start to the band. One of their more varied album, and therefore one of the better ones
Why didn't they continue evolving from this sound? Easily the best sound they ever adopted, and everything after is something of a letdown
The falloff must be studied. This record defines soulless and missing substance. The record is catchy, but it has nothing, NOTHING else to work with
Ramones don't switch it up, but they still show their most refined version of their sound on here. The sound is good, and most importantly fun. Not sophisticated, but very stupid and fun
