Been on a recent wave of love for all of OutKast's work, 'ATLiens' in particular has been in constant rotation for me. There's a solid argument to be made for this being the all-around best hip-hop album of all time, it's certainly one of the best aged rap albums of its era in terms of sound and style. It's still so cold, futuristic, and effortlessly cool. Space rap *__* The only flaws I can see in this thing are the occasional flareups of bigotry in the lyrics (not all that uncommon within the landscape of 90s hip-hop), but both André and Big Boi have long since gone back on their problematic lyrics and have expressed support for the gay community (wayyy before it was common or socially acceptable for rappers to do so, mind you).
"As I got older, I had to step back and say, well, the name of my group is Outkast and I represent all kinds of outcasts so it would be crazy for me to down a group of people [who] have their own viewpoints, and so my thing is that whatever floats your boat that's your thing. I'm not with downing people." - André 3000, 2006
What a king. 10/10
