freaking amazing!!
fuck, the first song is so outstanding that it got me expecting way more than what the whole project delivered it. I felt like he hasn't matched the greatness of pure comedy and ilyhb since then. I mean, there's still some good tracks here and there, but overall it feels kinda stale. His poetry is not that endearing to me - I prefer it when he's into the mordonic-metaphysical persona - and the music is quite forgetful. Tracks like 2 and 3, for example, have such a huge production ... read more
I swear to God, I've tried to listen to this about 10 times now. I can't get past the 8th track or something. I mean, the instrumentation is good and everything; it has good ideas, but the execution...I don't know. Maybe it's the vocals? Maybe it's too bloated with filler tracks? I don't know. Perhaps I'll get back to it in the future. For now, it's completely forgetful to me.
outstanding. I really don't get it if this isn't your album of the year
they're like my favorite band at this point, not one single bad record 'till this day.
hm, I don't know. I really enjoy everyting she's done in the last 10 years, but this one felt like something she already did. I don't know if it is the production, the arrangement, or even the performances...the songs are good, but they didn't spoke to me like I was expecting. Maybe sometime soon it will, I hope so.
20 years of career and they're still releasing interesting stuff, that's something. The second half of the album was lackluster for me, but End of The Empire I-III is the best song of 2022 so far. So yeah, great comeback!
It's funny, they managed to bring the sense of humor and social alienation of previous generation's punk rock to this era, with an explosive and modern sound and a tight band to deliver all that. So I guess they're one of the best punk bands of this generation, no doubts about that. That being said, this album is all over the place. I mean, the A-side it's just what we expect from them. Catchy tunes with sing-along choruses and a noisy sound with tight guitar-bass lines. But as soon as the B ... read more
meh, it's okay I guess? I mean, he surely can rap, the boom-bap sound it's compelling and the themes are relevant. But really there's no artistic vision/output that I feel it was really unique or interesting to justify all the hype. It's just boom-bap rap talking about contemporary themes with the same visions we heard everywhere. I feel like rap has lost its confrontative style and it's just mainstream pop now. Even when rappers try to be 'critical' and stuff, the lifestyle that they sell it's ... read more
This is gonna take a while to sink in, but the first impressions are outstanding, especially Disc 1. They manage to articulate such an immersive and deep sentimental sound that really delivers the best of what dream pop can express. I will come back to this, maybe I will love it or maybe I will just stick with a couple of songs. It doesn't matter, there is no way to deny that this is well made music.
I really enjoyed her last two albums. This one's good, but less inspired I guess. Her song topics and structure are quite similar to the ones on Be the cowboy, but with a more polished arrangement, which works fine, it just didn't captivate me the same way.
