Deeply melancholy record, a bittersweet listen for the times nostalgia is taking over. Even tho I live on the other side of the world, this makes me feel like a early 2000s Midwestern kid who's just been heartbroken. Delivers every single time.
When I listen to this I hover 30cm above the ground.
Perfectly named self-titled album imo, that undoubtedly feels like the definitive statement of a band whose name has become the synonym of the most dreamy and ethereal reflections of shoegaze. Even though every track has its own identity, the record flows so smoothly that you'll feel like you are softly gliding through a cloud during sunset.
I went into this knowing that hardcore/post punk isn't really my thing. The fact that the moments that I enjoyed the most of this album are the more synthy and melodic parts confirmed it. However, it was still a unique and engaging experience and I had fun listening to it nonetheless.
To me, this album still feels quite bumpy and out of focus but I believe that if they will be able to refine more their sound they'll be able to achieve huge things.
Powerful and intense record, cinematic at times. It reaches great highs, with satisfying crescendos and beautifully arranged strings, but some songs don't add much for me. Overall, undoubtedly a very enjoyable listen. Two riders down should have been the closer, imo.
Sweet, delicate and incredibly, incredibly gorgeous album. Cassandra's soothing voice feels like a warm hug after a rough day. Would inject Ambiguous Norway in my veins, honestly.
