JPEGMAFIA - LP! (Offline Version)
90

I’ve tried getting into him before but this time it’s workiiiiiiiiiiiiing I have not been this obsessed with an album in a long time. It’s so hypnotizing, non stop bops, somehow aggressive and mellow at the same time. It sounds like a dream.

Perfume Genius - Too Bright

I started listening to this album a few months before I came out, and that's probably no coincidence. There are so many lyrics on this album that perfectly put into words the complex, abstract feelings that come along with being gay/queer. This album inspired me to start painting my nails, it made me feel less alone in a time when I felt like the whole world was against me, and it gave me hope that I could access my full queer potential. I recently listened to it for the first time in a ... read more

St. Vincent - All Born Screaming
84

I've been a huge St. Vincent fan for a long time and I was really looking forward to this album. I do feel a little bit bamboozled by the singles because I really thought the whole album was going to have more of a heavy industrial vibe. It caught me off guard that the rest of the album is very different from the singles, but I do think it's solid from start to finish even though it doesn't feel quite as cohesive as the rest of her stuff. I love that she self-produced it, it feels like she's ... read more

The Marías - Submarine

I love this band so much. I feel like they have two modes: sleepy dreamy mode and funky sexy mode. They do both really well but I prefer their more mellow sound. Cinema leaned more into their funky upbeat mode which is why it didn't really click with me as much. This, however, is my shit. It reminds me more of my favorite release of theirs, Superclean vol. 2, which I've listened to about a billion times. The underwater aesthetic makes so much sense with their sound, it feels like they're really ... read more

Cindy Lee - Diamond Jubilee
93

I had never heard of Cindy Lee before this album, and I listened to it the morning it came out, which also happened to be the morning after I performed in drag for the first time. Finding out that Cindy Lee was a drag persona felt really serendipitous and surreal, like I was meant to hear this when I did. I can't remember the last time an album has captivated and inspired me like this one. It's so dreamy, warm, familiar yet totally original. It makes me want to make more music and do more drag ... read more

Arctic Monkeys - Humbug
87

This was always my favorite arctic monkeys album when I was at my peak obsession with them. I don’t know if it still is, but it has a special place in my heart. It really stands out from the rest of their stuff to me because it has such a spooky, sexy, dark magic energy. It’s like Alex Turner is beckoning you into a smoky sex dungeon filled with vampires and demons. And then there’s cornerstone which is a very different vibe from the rest of the album but I don’t care ... read more

This album is sexy and queer as hell and every song is great in its own way, but it’s still cohesive from start to finish and the transitions are amazing, I’ve listened to the whole thing so many times in the last year and it never gets old. It’s made with so much attention to detail and respect for the ballroom community that inspired it. It makes me feel extra hot and gay and maybe even bi? It’s perfect
