When Drip Harder dropped in 2018, it felt like the perfect link-up between two of Atlanta’s rising stars. Lil Baby and Gunna had undeniable chemistry, and their melodic trap sound was fresh, riding the wave of their individual successes. Tracks like Drip Too Hard became instant anthems, solidifying their status in the game.

Listening to it now, though, the album doesn’t quite hit the same. The beats are solid, and their flows are smooth, but much of the project feels repetitive and uninspired. There’s a certain lifelessness in how similar the tracks sound—while enjoyable in the background, Drip Harder doesn’t offer much depth beyond surface-level bangers.

That’s not to say there aren’t highlights. Never Recover with Drake adds some variety, and Close Friends remains one of Lil Baby’s best melodic performances. But outside of a handful of standouts, a lot of the album blends together, making it hard to pick out truly memorable moments.

Overall, Drip Harder was a fun moment in 2018, but it hasn’t aged as well as one might hope. It’s a decent collab tape, but in hindsight, it feels more like a stepping stone for both artists rather than a defining project in either of their careers.
