First track is an absolute belter, which I feel the rest of the album struggles to match. That said, there's a nice flow throughout and even if it isn't the strongest material, it's certainly an enjoyable enough listen. There's really nothing too disagreeable, just nothing too mind-blowing either.
Top Three Tracks:
1. Total euphoria
2. Tell me I never knew that
3. Two riders down
Ignore all the transphobic bigots. This is a great album. Musically, while it doesn't reinvent the wheel, there's a nice mix of dynamics here (plus the strings sound super gorgeous). I think as an album that tackles these issues is very salient though and should really be taken seriously for that. Also you're wacky if you don't think Sudden Storm is a banger.
Top Three Tracks:
1. Sudden Storm
2. You Hurt Me I Hate You
3. Grand Mal
Usually I walk to work, but I've been dogsitting at my Mum's house this week - and boy oh boy has this made my drive to work absolutely bop. I think there are a couple of dips towards the end, but certainly the first 35 mins or so are an absolute rip-roarer. Will no doubt be returning to this one as the year goes on.
Top Three Tracks:
1. Aerodynamic
2. Pansych
3. Deadstick
There's a couple of tracks towards the end that don't quite cut it for me. but otherwise this is a pretty consistent listen! Bonnet of Pins is just brilliant, and the first seven tracks in general are pretty decent ditties.
Top Three Tracks:
1. Bonnet of Pins
2. Nowhere Special
3. Little by Little
Some of the choruses are catchy but it just isn't sticking for me. Might be one I need to revisit in the future, but for now it's just okay.
Top Three Tracks:
1. CCF (I'm Gonna Sty With You)
2. Gethsemane
3. Reality
You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
I did not expect an album that starts with flappy giblets and bog bodies to have me crying by the end. For real though the boys just churn out bangers and that's all anyone can really ask for at the moment.
Top 3 Tracks:
1. Uno II
2. Man Made of Meat
3. River King
Starts off with an absolute riproarer but soon descends back into a gentle amble. There are a couple of tracks that don't do much for me, but, generally, it's a easy listen with some nice production and interesting sound palette.
Top three tracks:
1. It's A Mirror
2. Full On
3. Left For Tomorrow
Knight-Folk has arrived, My Liege!
How do you follow up a decade-defining album? By making another. This was a slow burner for me. There is so much going on in the way of song structure and instrumentation that makes the album feel wild and dense on first listen. I found it deeply rewarding after sticking with it, though. There are plenty of satisfying climaxes, the performances are on another level, and there are some very whimsical themes (a personal box-ticker for me).

I really love the soundscape here and think it makes for a nice and easy listen There are a few tracks that stand out but even some less memorable ones are a pleasant listen.
Top Three Tracks:
1. Men in Bars
2. Picture Window
3. Mega Circuit
This will also provide the perfect soundtrack to my holiday. It took me a few listens to really get into it, but now I'm fully there and loving it. I still hear a lot of MPP in everything Panda does.
Top Three Tracks:
1. Defense
2. venom's In
3. Praise
This is going to be the soundtrack of my summer holiday. Love you Hammy.
Top 3 Tracks:
What Do I Think?
Happy Lights
I Was Right
Completely fine. I feel like there aren't as many standout tracks as on the last album, but it's probably more consistent across the board. I really don't like the stereo spread production these guys continue to use but hey ho.
Top 3 Tracks:
A Distant Life
Swallow
Moonshot
An enjoyable effort from Sharon and the band. While none of the tracks are particularly knock-out, they work nicely as part of a collection for a nice, easy listen. The album feels like it drops off a little towards the end personally.
Top Three Tracks:
Afterlife
Trouble
Live Forever
It's a solid debut album that rips through the tracklist and doesn't overstay its welcome.
Top 3 Tracks:
Just to Ask a Dance
Jacked
Celebrate
This is a really lovely collection of songs. Richard - I mean Rich - is truly one of the most distinctive artists around at the moment and I look forward to revisiting this throughout the year.
Top 3 Tracks:
- Gondola
- Polytunnel
- Knot
The songs here are fine but nothing really grabs my attention. I usually find at least a couple of bangers on a Squid album but not sure I'm hearing any this time. I'm hoping it's a grower! There was definitely some Battles influence which was fun to hear.
Top 3 Tracks:
Blood on the Boulders
Building 650
Cowards
Serfs Up had more individual bangers but felt like a less complete album, whereas this has less individual bangers but is a very consistent listen.
Top 3 Tracks:
John Lennon
Bullet of Dignity
What's That You Say
Repping the UK spoken word scene nicely. There’s some fun tunes on this album. It seems to trail off towards the end, but there's plenty to enjoy until that point.
Top 3 Tracks:
Dream Job
An Illusion
The Undertow
