Kanye West - BULLY
50

For a supposed comeback, I agree with anyone saying that this album feels so… devoid, so empty and lacking in ways. But it’s certainly a step forward for Ye and his path for forgiveness after such a tumultuous stunt in right-wing nationalism.

I won’t be as forgiving because not even stuggles with mental health can excuse spewing hateful idealogy but, at least it’s something.

Harry Styles - Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally.

I loved Harry’s House and the direction he went with that. He fully embraces pop with this album and it works—kinda. I don’t know why but it sort of feels like a continuation of Harry’s House? That’s probably just me but it feels like that.

There are ideas that work well and some that I don’t think mesh well with Harry.

Frank Ocean - Blonde
100

Blonde is something drastically different than Channel Orange. Whereas that album deals with the intimacy and intensity of being in love, Blonde is unforgiving when it comes to the troubles and mental struggles of going through a rough patch in life. Absolutely heartbreaking at times yet so comforting—like a hug from someone who knows what you’re going through.

Frank Ocean - channel ORANGE

I have found myself gravitating towards this album the more I don’t find myself clicking with it. The more I listen, the more I understand the innate intimacy that Frank brings with this album and I’m absolutely in love with it.

underscores - U
87

first time listening through an underscore’s album and i have to say i am completely blown away from the production and songwriting. one of the best electropop, dance records to come out so far.

BTS - ARIRANG
40

How NOT to do a proper comeback.

this is just messy as fuck. the ideas are there for sure but… mostly every song is in english. not that it’s a bad thing for k-pop artists to mix in some english… but considering that this has a korean word as their title AND it being their comeback after years? the rapping is questionable at best, there’s one filler track that is just… nothing but ambient? (if you can even call it that)

don’t even get me started with ... read more

Childish Gambino - Bando Stone and The New World

i honestly love this album to death. its definitely not his best ever but i feel like it gets overshadowed because… it’s supposedly a “movie soundtrack.”

let me start of with singles, Lithonia and In The Night.

Lithonia was something completely different but very, VERY reminiscent of “Awaken, My Love!” I would love hear more rock from Glover in the future because Lithonia is such a good song to head bang. In The Night is a bit of R&B and afrobeat ... read more

Taylor Swift - reputation
70

reputation is my personal favorite and somewhat guilty pleasure album from taylor.

i can see back then in 2017 that this was a grand return from taylor after such controversy due to kanye’s comments. that being exacerbated by his fanbase and other people jumping in on the hate train. (which feels all too familiar after TLOASG)

because of that this albums feels angrier… in a way. there are some songs that i genuinely enjoy but there some songs here that are sprinked with corny ... read more

Baby Keem - Ca$ino
80

this is my first proper impression from keem and i can say its a pretty strong good impression depsite it being so short. other than the runtime, it’s really tight packed with so much self-reflection and grief hidden behind the production. one of the better hip-hop albums this year so far.

Taylor Swift - The Fate of Ophelia
68

despite it being a really catchy Taylor-Grade pop song, it just completely misses the point of the real story being the death of Ophelia. Shakespare is writhing in his grave, all in the name of making a hit I guess…

Taylor Swift - Opalite
65

not perfect, but just the same generic pop everyone is familiar with. it’s also one of the better songs on this god forsaken album, but it’s also far from being “her best song” but people will rate it a perfect 100 because… it’s taylor. that’s it. that’s all she’ll ever be at this point.

Beach House - Depression Cherry
90

Dreamy, noisy, melancholic yet calming.

This is my first album I’ve heard from Beach House and I’m excited to hear the rest of their discography. It also holds a special place in my heart as it becomes my go-to whenever I feel down or just looking to relax.

Sparks is very incredibly underrated because it is a perfect combination of dreamy pop production and walls of noise, which makes it feels so… depressing yet so reminiscent of something loving.

Joji - Piss In The Wind
79

Obviously better than SMITHEREENS.

I have been a fan of Joji since SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK and I loved his progression throughout the years in his career. SMITHEREENS was where he really faltered (except for Glimpse of Us) so it really just felt like something forced or rushed to get out of something.

He goes back to his roots of the lo-fi, sad boy vibes for PITW with some sprinkles of rage music in it. No one can doubt that the production is very good a very much an improvement from his ... read more

Bad Bunny - DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS

Worth of winning Album of the Year.

Albums like these and many others make me feel proud to be hispanic and wanting to connect with my parents’ native homeland, especially in the times we live in where you can be arrested and deported just for being something other than white.

Fuck ICE, the MAGA agenda, nothing will ever stop me from wearing my hispanidad on my sleeve.

10cc - I'm Not in Love
100

sounds like something out of this world, ahead of its time

Kate Bush - Never for Ever
90

First album from Kate Bush that I’ve listened to fully multiple times and I absolutely love it, it kind of makes me wish I’ve should’ve listened to her works eariler.

Kate Bush - The Dreaming
95

This is my first introduction to art pop, and I can say I’m excited to hear the rest of her discography. Weirdly amazing in every way.

ROSALÍA - Berghain
100

pure art. shes done it again

Tame Impala - Deadbeat
85

This is far from being a bad album, so the haters can suck it when I say, this is a great fucking album.

He took a risk with making this a whole house album but, I think it landed pretty well. It’s spacey, vibey, and full.
