Just a wonderful feeling, Reggae filled, short and sweet old school ska album. This makes me want to get up and dance. Every song is fucking peak.
This is the pinnacle of Crossover Thrash. Every song on this is a timeless thrashing classic that is jam packed with incredible riff writing and hardcore energy. The opening epic Rise and Fall/Mark of the Squealer may be long but my god is is fucking incredible. And after you get so many peak songs like Enforcer, Self Defense, Defy You, the title track, the whole fucking album. This is arguably the single greatest crossover thrash album ever. I know some consider Age of Quarrel by the Cro Mags ... read more
I wish the vocals were a little less over-the-top and metalcore-esk, but musically this is enough to bring this to a pretty high rating. Crushing riffs and killer crossover thrash energy to be found, I just imagine how this could've been EVEN BETTER with a better vocalist.
The blown out production makes it feel like this wall of sound is just collapsing around you. It may not be the most original death metal releases I’ve ever heard, but it’s definitely one of the filthier releases I’ve heard this year. It ain’t reinventing the wheel, but it gives you good head-banging riffs and heaviness to supply you for 15 minutes. Coffin Leakage was the best track.
Really great 2026 thrash/speed that has a lot of melodic elements but is still lethal and ripping. It reminds me a lot of old school Blind Guardian in aspects of it. The production also has a lot of punch to it, without sounding over compressed or sterile. The Darkened Sphere, Eyes of Wrath, and Triumph Through Pain were my favorite tracks. The guitar work is easily the standout aspect of this entire album.
One of the sickest forgotten speed/thrash albums of the mid-80s. The riffs and production are absolutely perfect and the vocals are gritty and gruff. Every song is a winner and it makes for an album that every self-respecting thrash metal fan should listen to. Also an incredible album cover might I add.
Remarkably solid and very underrated Brazilian hardcore. A lot of fun riffs with a lot of bite to them.
I feel like this album could definitely be shortened. Even though every song is great and fun, I kinda feel like the album naturally ends at (Dawning of a) New Era and the stuff after just kinda has the vibes of bonus tracks or an extra release. However, like I said, everything on here is so much fun and just makes me wanna dance. Awesome old school ska album, even if it goes on a tad longer than I feel necessary. Do the Dog, Concrete Jungle, Nite Klub, so many good songs. The bassist is also ... read more
This album is jute pure joy. It may be simple and straight forward, but it’s so goddamn fun it puts a big smile on my face listening to it
Undoubtedly one of the most influential and important albums ever made, as Coven were arguably the first band to implement heavy occult/satanic themes into their music. The music is fantastic psychedelic rock with some pretty dark and blasphemous imagery for the time. Also the 13 minute speech at the end, known by the name of Satanic Mass, may not be something I have any desire to listen to again, but in context of the full album it absolutely essential. Great album that paved the way for ... read more
CITIZEN I.C.E.:
A fantastic rewrite of a Dropkick Murphys classic, this time more socially relevant to the times and with Haywire featured on it. It’s the classic song but now with an anti-ICE flavor, so it’s still incredibly based and peak. Fuck ICE.
DROPKICK MURPHYS:
God man. I’m kind of shocked how the Murphy’s still got it this much. This has the same fire and vitality that bands more than half their age have. Great energy and aggression for a punk band this late ... read more
HAYWIRE:
I’m a big fan of Haywire, and these 3 songs are them playing into their happier more straight forward punk sound. Summer Nights is great fun but the other 2 are kinda forgettable and blend together. It makes sense why Summer Nights is the only one that’s still consistently talked about from this split.
NO GUARD:
This is my first hearing of them and they’re pretty great Oi punk/hardcore mix. The 3 songs are great fun, and mesh great for the sound their going ... read more
Sky’s the Limit, Hell or High Water, and Demonic Intervention were kinda ehhhhh but the rest of the album was a pretty damn good new release by an old school New York hardcore/groove metal group. The first 2 songs were my favorites.
I wish there were less samples but this is a pretty decent 14 minutes of hardcore regardless
Relentless death-thrash metal that reminds a lot of Morbid Saint, Kreator, and Sodom. The drummer on here is ridiculous and the production is like perfect for modern thrash. One of the best albums of the year so far and it’s only less than a half hour long.
