The newest Linkin Park project is one of their best ever. Yeah, I said it.
Chester can't be replaced. Linkin Park with Chester and Linkin Park without him are two different beasts inherently. More than listenable, though I'm not going to pretend like I love it. It's clearly dated, it's not very interesting, and it's a pretty lackluster sendoff for Chester, but I don't feel personally offended this exists at all. And yes, One More Light is far beyond worth the rest of this existing.
It's nothing new. This project is half A Thousand Suns without the concept and half Minutes to Midnight without the consistency. That definitely doesn't make this bad, but it certainly is the Linkin Park album that I would notice the least if it didn't exist. It's not particularly heavy, nor is it particularly anthemic, and it's certainly a passable record but it doesn't show off the songwriting, instrumentation, or vocals their other projects do.
