In the midst of the conclusion of one seemingly forgettable episode of the US version of the hit show "The Office", token office try-hard guy Andy Bernard uttered an indelible quote mid monologue that has stuck with me ever since;
"I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days, before you've actually left them."
I've come to realize at the wise old age of 26 (around the age where you finally know everything) that the short answer is Andy; ... read more
Few things in this life are as genuinely galvanizing to our beings as discovering something new to fall in love with. Often, we attribute that sensation to the knot-tying butterflies that make our heart skip a beat when we fall in love with someone, but that primal feeling of falling in love presents itself time and time again to us in even the most mundane, everyday things. It's just not that simple. Schedules are jam packed, there's always places to be, people to see, commitments ... read more
Just a year following a boundary stretching departure album detailing and sounding like an all out journey through an hallucinogenic-induced trip, it's more than safe to say anything is on the table when it comes to the North Atlanta artist Lil Yachty.
The stark change in style and sound on his 2023 LP "Let's Start Here" was first suspected before the album was even being teased, when Yachty reached out to live instrumentalists to work on a project together. This project ... read more
In a modern era of music that overwhelmingly celebrates and pushes the individual solo artist more than ever before, the genre of rock music as a whole has taken a backseat in the past decade to thriving genres where pop stars, hip hop titans and country crooners stand directly in the spot light. As a whole its easier for the industry and its labels to market, deal with, and inevitably sell a solo artist with a strong personality and brand, rather than a group of artists with different ... read more
Just let your imagination run wild, let your heart be your guide.
The late, legendary television host and everyone's favourite art instructor, Bob Ross imparted this indispensable wisdom to us 40 years ago and it still lives in the minds of many of our greatest musicians, artists, and creators today. When we are young our imaginations are limitless, and as we grow older and are told "No" over and over again, we subconsciously create boundaries for ourselves on what we can do and ... read more
Peering down with consummate authority way up atop the highest peak, lies the Hero. With a contemplative aerial perspective of his foes and those he must protect, the Hero assumes a thankless, but necessary role. Stop The Villain. Which makes the Villain just as necessary.
Leland Wayne, known to many as Metro Boomin', likens himself to a sort of One Punch Man. Someone who has meticulously and vigorously trained at his craft to the point that he has mastered it, and can defeat foes with a ... read more
Time is a fickle, funny thing.
It is the illustrious healer of all things, pedagogue of tough lessons, provider of hindsight and supplier of wisdom, promising that all good things require it. It runs faster on the good nights, and slower during the shitty ones. It is the one thing we all want more of, yet all of the billionaire's money in the world couldn't buy it. It is without a doubt, the single most valuable thing in the world.
This month will have already marked two years since The Last ... read more
It's finally over.
As the turn of the new decade hit and we all popped champagne, without us really even realizing, we were stuck right smack in the middle of a music drought.
For whatever reason, some of the biggest artists in nearly every genre seemed to all be on hiatus. It had been 4 years since the likes of Kendrick, The Weeknd, and Flume had dropped full albums, and 6 years since we got one from Porter Robinson. Perhaps it was the quick consumption of music nowadays that deterred ... read more

The best artists in the industry are able to reinvent themselves every time they create. Whether it be a new sound, a new style, a new narrative, story, or maybe even a whole new alias. Less than 2 years following his record breaking, number busting 2020 LP in "After ... read more
QUICK THOUGHTS
Champagne Poetry was decent, but got a little repetitive due to its length. I think the second track makes for a much better album opener.
Putting Lil Baby on a slower, lighter rap song was definitely different, but a waste of a good feature. Surely A&R knows better than to put Baby over weak drums and production like that.
Fair Trade and Knife Talk is the Drake we needed more of on here. IYRTITL-esque production with dark synths and more sinister elements. Love has its ... read more
Quick Thoughts:
Jail is one of his best intros ever. An introspective song that has him look back at all his sins and reflecting on losing his mother and wife Kim Kardashian.
Baby Keem went OFF on his Praise God feature.
The choir on Off The Grid is one of the best sampling I've ever heard. This is an all time Kanye song with everybody blacking out on their verses over one of the hardest beats I've ever heard
The 808 slides on Off The Grid make me feel some type of way
The final form of ... read more

I like the title track as the intro, but we all know it should've been Street Runner.
Rod Wave is floating all over this album. His flows on Gone Til November, How The Game Go, and Invisible Scar are stand outs.
Needs to utilize those background layered vocals more. Perfectly mixed and levelled on Blame On You
The choir on Tombstone >>>
His house production team went crazy on this album. Need a 10 hour Invisible Scar instrumental

Just a glorious sounding album. Nearly every song has its own airy ambiance often accompanied by a string or brass section to create an entire ensemble.
Heaven is a perfect example of his bombastic vocals and D'Mile's full, grandiose production style that meshes so well in this album
That choir in Magic over that production. I know this album is gonna have some crazy replay value
The progression on So Sweet as well as his vocals are top notch

Ew is an entrancing opener with luscious string progressions and Jojis strong, pain stricken vocals throughout

Dolphs voice and flow are crazy and can find the pocket in any beat
Got my new album for the work commute
Intro is cool, but a little weak in comparison to the rest of the album
The interludes are hilarious featuring Dolphs phone call with an apparent friend of his dad's
The album really picks up starting at What Da Bizness
Meg does her thing on RNB. Consistently solid with her flows
Dolph and Key Glock are a tough duo. No Sense is Top 3 off here

Amine shows us his lyrical side on the intro track. The opening lines are memorable; "When your skin is darker, shit gets harder.. This a Black Album like Shawn Carter"
Woodlawn is an early attention grabber. That flute is goin
Roots with JID and Charlie Wilson is one of my favourite tracks from this year. Both Amine and JID have great verses and Charlie Wilsons tantalizing vocals give the song an almost ethereal feel
