Suicide Silence - The Cleansing

This is peak deathcore. I've seen Suicide Silence live multiple times and every track they play from this ends up the highlight of the show.

I feel as though most of the hate towards this album at the time comes down to the community they associated with and the breakdowns over the actual quality of the music. If you were to remove those aspects the band would have been accepted so much more by the general metal community at the time.

DEXCORE does their thing but more refined than previous releases. The "animecore" type sound is a lot more palatable on this release and feels a lot more natural. I don't think there was any song that I disliked on the album just ones that don't stick with me as much like "still alive" which is a bit drawn out and doesn't really hit till the chorus 2 minutes in.

This album is one of the best post hardcore albums ever made. Although feeling amateur and rough it encapsulates the goal of much of the genre. The raw feelings and emotion thrown into this album eclipse most flaws. Just listen to it.

Of Machines - As If Everything Was Held In Place

A post-hardcore classic by all means. Some parts haven't held up like the last track "an autobiography" which starts with a 2 minute long ballad over a stripped electronic part. I really like the sound of this album but it does have a small issue of many songs sounding a bit too similar. Overall I enjoy listening to this especially all the way through as it feels less like a collection of songs and more like a singular journey.

My favorite thing saosin has released and it's iconic for a reason. This stage of the band was so short but revolutionized the sound.
