they have some pretty good sounds!!! some ideas or songs could've been explored more like with Gameboy. nottt the biggest fan of mean girls but yk shoutout to that one lyric. interested to see how they progress from what looks like a new starting point ^^
faves: MIA, Gnarly (i can explain - i think when it comes to likeee hyperpop-y sounds and the whole concept of this song wrt context the lyrics aren't horrible like :-p theyre almost satirically superficial and its most likely a ... read more
damn ppl are so negative about this - eh its fine its annoyingly catchy but its a cute song. kitschy is a word that comes to mind. i like when chappell delves more into country sounds but i dont know how but i feel like i lean more towards the Read & Makeout style of country from her than the giver if that makes sense :-P
one thing about logic that acts both in favour of and at the detriment of his music is his tendency to be really self-indulgent, however i think that for the most part he's honed that urge/quirk in a way that makes a lot of this album really endearing? idk it's a nice place to end up and i loveddd the sound for a couple of these songs.
One of those albums that you have to let marinate, but also, one of the quickest albumsm to click for me :-P
The titles' stylization has me thinking this is an inverse of DAMN wherein maybe he's more self-actualized, esp with their respective sounds. However I found this listen more consistently enjoyable than DAMN so props for that.*
(*Wrt album links - It was such a gift to watch how his relationship with God developed through each album because damn that shit is interesting (and ... read more
technically very strong - a lot of strong songs and interesting/ fun production as usual w/ tyler. idk it might just have to grow on me more.
Leans more towards a collection of bonus tracks than a second act -> It feels like a majority of the best songs on this run a bit short or aren't as fleshed out as they could be.
(Edit: I'm a doofus. These ARE bonus tracks. Score adjusted to reflect that. 69 -> 75. I still stand by what I said about the tracks.)
HOWEVER, I also think a good chunk of these have Meg dipping her toes into a wider range of sounds (from what I remember).

listened w/ a friend when it came out bc she was of the swiftie persuasion. eh.
NOT A REVIEW I JUST HAVE THOUGHTS:
I’ve never sat in silence to process what I just heard after listening to an album so this was a new an experience. What the hell happened on Kendrick's trip to South Africa??? π (Well he does talk a bit about it in How Much a Dollar Cost wink wink).
People say that this album was kind of like a poem but I disagree bc ik that he utilizes a poem to enhance the connection between tracks and themes but guys c'mon neow it's so obvious ... read more
No idea on what Charlie (Charlie's Inferno) was going on about, Hell's great!
- This is one DENSE boy but I'm always a sucker for distinctive storytelling and sense of voice. I will gladly just start glazing: I appreciate how the chaos and range of stories being told makes this feel like a dive into an epic or a Faulkner-y classic. A couple of the lyrics on the song is straight up poem I'd have to break down in class material (looking at you, Welcome to Hell).
- A lot of ... read more
Utterly bizarre.
Not much to comment on that hasn't already been praised a hundred times: the vocal performances are extraordinary with how much Greep manages to wield it to sell his chr and the album, the instrumentals are FUN and such a blast to listen to but also dips into the dread that resonates through the entire work.
There's a deep sense of emptiness and rot that keeps permeating through the songs, which gives me the mental image of the MC hastily plastering gaudy ... read more
