Julie Byrne - The Greater Wings
90

Not Even Happiness was one of my favourite albums of last decade and this is everything I could have wanted in a follow up. The most beautiful album of the year and just a contender for AOTY in general.

Key tracks: The Greater Wings, Summer Glass, Flare

Tirzah - Colourgrade

An experimental record that will surpass time

Jessica Pratt - Quiet Signs
85

She snapped. Her chord progressions and melodies... this is not something she just fucking made. This is some professional... this shit is in different areas, what the fuck!

Highlights: As the World Turns, This Time Around, Crossing, Aeroplane

Mitski - Be the Cowboy
85

Though not as good as 2016's AOTY Puberty 2, Mitski once again proves herself to be one of the finest songwriters we have, presenting 13 immaculately-written and concise songs about love and loneliness. One could argue that some songs could be developed further, but Mitski does more with these tracks than some artists could manage in entire albums: I didn't think it was possible to snap so hard in such a short space of time, but songs like Blue Light and Geyser proved me wrong.

Tirzah - Devotion
82

There's a new experimental pop gal in town and she snapped! magazine editor FKA twigs is shaking. Not much on the first listen, but it gets better with time. I love her voice and her more subtle approach to production and arrangement.

Highlights: Fine Again, Gladly, Holding On, Devotion, Say When, Reach
Lowlights: BASIC need

Beach House - Depression Cherry
88

Lovely. Keep on keepin' on, Beach Gods.

Highlights: Sparks; Beyond Love; PPP; Bluebird

Lana Del Rey - Honeymoon
90

Queen of Pop has done it again with another outstanding record. Her vocals are better than ever and the production is flawless. Your poor faves could never.

Highlights: Swan Song; The Blackest Day; Music to Watch Boys to; Salvatore

Preoccupations - Viet Cong
80

Hmm, nothing as good as Continental Shelf but that was to be expected. The album is very short but still feels heavy at the same time, Death is just have to admire, it lowkey changed my life tbh.

Highlights; Continental Shelf; March of Progress; Death

Jessica Pratt - On Your Own Love Again
NR

Hmm, this is cute but I'mma have to give this a 6 right now because I can't find a stream so it can't grow on me. Put it on spotify bitch.

Highlights; Back, Baby; Moon Dude

Natalie Prass - Natalie Prass
90

Yas Natalie.

It's only nine songs but that's because there's no filler at all. Each track is masterfully constructed and there's something to love about all of them. I will never be over this album. 9/10
