Edit: I didn't give it enough credit.
Friend introduced me to this band, and holy shit this album is great. Every song feels like a glimpse into someone’s personal journal, it borders on difficult to listen to at times because it’s so relatable. A lot of these songs sound extremely similar to each other but I don’t care when they hit this hard.

It took me a while to figure out how I really felt about this album, when I first heard it I definitely didn’t dislike it, but I just felt that something was missing, and upon my second listen, yeah I kinda feel the same way. Spanish Love Songs has never made a bad song or album, not even this one, but man I can’t see myself wanting to revisit most of what’s on here. When it’s good it’s good, but even my favorite songs on this album are nowhere near my favs on BFE, ... read more
Giant Sings The Blues is pretty great! By the standards of a band as incredible as this, its definitely one of their weaker projects but I still enjoy the vast majority of songs on here quite a bit and it still has everything I love about this band, even if you can tell they hadn’t quite came into their sound yet, especially on the first few tracks. Sigh... I REALLY wanted to love this album, I really did. I love Joji, I still listen to songs from Nectar and Ballads 2 all the time, even Smithereens had songs like Glimpse of Us and Before The Day is Over, but this album really did not do it for me. I can't see myself ever revisiting 90% of the material on here and that really sucks to say since this was one of my most anticipated releases of the year. It's not awful, Joji still has a great voice and the production is still solid, ... read more
Spanish Love Songs is my favorite band of all time currently and this is one of the best albums I've ever heard, it's not quite as amazing as Brave Faces Everyone in my opinion but it's still spectacular. The best songs here get me choked up every time I listen and the weakest are just nothing special, but theres not a bad song in the bunch. I do think the album falls off a liiiittle bit in the second half, but even then there's still incredible songs like the closing track, ... read more
