Suki into Yukiko-san might be one of the most insane whiplashes in the history of music
I don't know what is wrong with this woman, but it makes for some pretty good art.
This album has a lot of "pop" elements, that are combined with Mariko's completely nutty chaotic nature. It has some minor consistency issues, but by god when it's good it's really good. Mariko continues to be one of my favorite artistic minds in all of music.
This album explores a couple of different genres, including more "epic" rock, Power Pop/J-Rock and more low-fi pop with mixed results.
To my understanding their main concept is being a more rock centric group. Unfortunately, the songs that lean into the more epic side just fall flat for me. This is an incredible album. Eccos artistic vision combined with the amazing work of the producers make for beautiful experience. Yet I can't help by also being a bit frustrated with this album. I think there are so many moments on here where the songs fall just short of reaching their full potential.
