this man is talented!!! he really twisted the algorithm with this record. this incredibly crafted fusion of genres where you never know what to expect next: i love these kind of albums. i heard rnb, rock, soul, funk, electronic, and even elements of gospel. this is my first introduction to lucky daye as an artist, apart from ‘smoke’ with victoria monet, and wow i’m impressed: i wanna go back to his other albums. i was fascinated to hear afterwards that one of his big influences is stevie wonder, because as i was listening to this album, he reminded me a lot of stevie. you can really hear the heavy soul-rooted background. additionally, raye’s verse on ‘paralyzed’ was actual perfection. the spoken sections throughout complement the record so well. they really do give an insight into what the artist is thinking. in conclusion, i think i found one of my favorite albums of the year.
