I'll tell you that my interest in The Hard Quartet has grown over the past few weeks. I've been a big Pavement fan for sometime, so a new hard-rock side project for Malkmus was cool but I didn't think much of it. Hits home the mood for emo imo, shifting from the soft (Table for Glasses, A Sunday, 12.23.25), to the loud (Lucky Denver Mint, Crush, Clarity), and a very, very good balance between the two (Just Watch the Fireworks, For Me This Is Heaven), and even a nice and hypnotic ending.
