too fuckin good to be 6 minutes long. just a brief set of grindcore bangers with great emotional lyrics. such a natural side project coming from rook tbh, and i absolutely love it.

eclectic, but still manages to sound so unified. speak and spell and the amazing artists signed to them have created a wonderful project that brings out the best in their varied styles, and uses their platform to support an important cause. its inspiring to see really, in response to all that has happened, and i think more labels should come together and create projects like this one. BLM. ACAB.

breathtaking

a gorgeous display of how far you can get with a unique sonic palette and a nice pristine sound in general. this album genuinely took my breath away, with it's sprawling flitting synth full compositions that scratch such a particular itch for me. it's one of those rare things where i listen and immediately latch on to the sound of, in a way that makes it feel like it was made for me. an atmospheric, unique, beautiful, warm listen, front to back. what more do you need ? ... read more

amidst jay electronica hype of yesterday, i decided to listen to his ep Act 1, and i was pretty indifferent overall. interesting idea instrumentally but didn't really get the hype. i went into this hoping the best parts of the ep were pushed and that there would be a major improvement on all fronts. that i would hear what's so special about jay electronica in this.

sadly that is not the case.

bittersweet.

this made me think about something that's already been on my mind a lot this past year, the cat i've grown up with is getting old. he's been around for as long as i can remember, and is part of the reason i love cats as much as i do. but recently he hasn't been able to jump as well. occasionally he'll try and jump onto the counter and fall. i feel like i can hear his joints when he jumps, a subtle reminder he wont be here forever, and it makes me sad.

really great song ! effectively dark atmosphere, the drum beat is incredible, cool synths throughout, mix is good, love it ! definitely gonna listen to one of their albums sometime after hearing this.

very nice mix, I especially liked the section that starts around 5:40 and that last section is straight up gorgeous. while i do think some bits last a tad too long, and i couldn't get into the second section as much as the others, this is very good overall. bops and bangs and baps ! uwu

I respect this album a lot for its stylistic choices, the loose concept behind it, and some of ye's best work being here, but I just can't get past some of the lyrical content and too much of this doesn't do much for me to justify the hour run time. I can't help but feel it drags.
