Not my favorite album and by far not any of the individual artists best work, but it is an enjoyable listen nonetheless, its full of energy and a unique sound that the group defines better in their sophomore album The Score.

Just because Vieux Farka Touré is the son of a legendary artist doesn’t mean he should be overshadowed, in fact this album is a perfect example of how he sets himself apart. The soundscape is incredible throughout the album, always full of soul and the ever present hypnotic guitar.

If Badu can do one thing its put out a vibe, her voice is unique and filled with soul, her sound is clear and coherent and easy to fall in love with.

The blend of Carnatic, Hindustani, and western guitar makes for an incredible and unique soundscape. Shakti put out another banger with their all-star lineup of musicians.
