i've listened to this song since it came out and it is, to this day, a song i cannot ever grow sick of. gossett has an underrated quality and ability to create a moving, catchy melody that delivers the melancholia of a song like 'Coal'. it's a stellar introduction to the country/folk scene with solid lyrics and great guitar playing that fits right beside heavy hitters like Zach Bryan.
patron saint of queer girls. i love you, chappell roan!!!!
i came into this ready to be a hater but i loved how this album sounded and blended with each song.
it's a landmark of art pop, trip hop, and collaborative music for a reason. Demon Days may be weird and off-putting at times, but you can never deny its stellar production and the solid deliveries from every collaborator that Albarn sets front and centre.
