Freddie Gibbs - RBT
55

A pleasent three track EP from Freddie Gibbs. Lyricism is on point and the project flows well, nothing really experimental or different from Freddie, he’s sticking to his strengths and that’s fine. Rabbit Mode is a standout track too. A shame that the EP is 8 minutes long...

IVE - LUCID DREAM
40

Very bland and uninspired; I feel like “LUCID DREAM” gets progressively worse as you listen to it. The songs are fine to enjoyable at best; the EP as a whole, however, feels very hollow and empty. Despite this, I will die on a hill for the title track. I don’t care what anyone says, that chorus and rhythm are groovy as fuck, and the entire song feels so uplifting and energetic. Fight me.

Kim Petras - Detour
86

I’m so happy to see Kim Petras making meaningful music after escaping her label. Detour is a breath of fresh air and sounds absolutely astonishing. However, I definitely think this project is far more important for Kim Petras personally, and it feels like something she’s been dying to release throughout her decade-long presence in music.

Kim Petras has always been an unimpressive act in music to me for the longest time. Whether it be her ear-scraping single with Sam Smith, or ... read more

JPEGMAFIA - EXPERIMENTAL RAP
67

Ironic that this JPEG album is called EXPERIMENTAL RAP, and coincidentally it manages to be his worst album.

I think we’ve gotten to a point where JPEGMAFIA, who’s been reliably putting out highly received projects, has let his ego get the best of him. EXPERIMENTAL RAP doesn’t bring anything new. He sticks to his old formula, yet worsens it somehow. It’s a mixed bag listening to this album—you’ll get some well-produced, complete tracks, and two songs later ... read more

Genesis Owusu - REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE
82

In a world nowdays filled with political injustice and unrest, a world where we’ve progressed so far, but society is still dazed with uncertainity and unpredicatable. Genesis Owusu comes to drop an amazing protest record —translating his fury and ambition into REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCROUGE.

He’s unapolgetic, lyrically adept and still as experimental and genre striking as ever, mixing between both punk and rap whilst also dabbling in a bit of neo-soul too. Genesis ... read more

Kenny Mason - BULLDAWG
84

Versatility… that’s Kenny Mason, if you were to describe his performance on BULLDAWG.

Flows, storytelling, experimentation, cohesiveness—sub-genres on sub-genres. I could go on about everything Kenny does well on this project, but I would be stuck uttering line after line. Essentially, BULLDAWG is a well-structured and cohesive listen. Despite all the things it attempts to do at the same time, whether that be rap-rock or a trap fusion, it never feels like it’s all ... read more

leroy - status update music
93

Sonically, this album is genuinely on a cosmic-galactic level. The amount of complexity and maximalist production that’s gone into this project— and it STILL sounds absolutely ear-orgasmic, is mind-blowing on so many levels. Jane Remover has obviously solidified herself as someone who deflects industry norms and WILL go full-blown ape shit when it comes to music if need be.

As an avid Jane Remover listener, and someone that casually listens to Jane Remover’s public projects ... read more

NMIXX - Heavy Serenade
71

Nobody is doing it like NMIXX. Stellar production and confiding lyrics, Heavy Serenade really succeeds in every aspect of what makes K-Pop so congenial in the first place. In essence, this is K-Pop optimised by it’s best qualities.

Skrillex - Kora
42

The title track sounds like if a renaissance era peasant had a life-changing acid trip.

I gotta be honest, I’m not too familiar with Skrillex. I listened to his EP “hit me where it hurts x” which I didn’t actually mind too much, other than that I only know his hits and his old tracks.

‘Kora’ is definitely a strange EP to put at the least. From the sampling of “Someone Said” to an unusual and interesting degree, to the straight up schizophrenic ... read more

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb
80

A$AP ROCKY IS BACK! And I don’t just mean that in a hiatus sense, but his project ‘Don’t Be Dumb’ itself is a great comeback to the game after years of teases and edging his fans, mentally and physically.

A$AP Rocky is not new to the rap scene, he’s made classics like ‘LIVE.LONG.A$AP’ and ‘AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP’ that will always stands as testaments to rap culture. ‘TESTING’ was however a flop commercially and musically, putting a ... read more

CHUU - XO, My Cyberlove
60

Uh, it’s a K-Pop album, I guess? CHUU’s debut really struggles to seperate itself from most industry norms and stereotypes already established in pop music.

CHUU’s debut in LOONA really shot her recognition as a solo artist into relevancy. Although she hasn’t been getting quite the praise like Yves has, she’s still brought “XO, My Cyberlove” to the table for 2026.

Bright and bubbly, CHUU’s voice is definitely a highlight throughout the project ... read more

Pusha T - DAYTONA
75

Raw and unapologetic. ‘Pusha T’ is one of the only rappers I know that can carry a whole album purely through lyricism and rapping.

Pusha T has always been a gifted and standout rapper, since his come-up through Clipse. His vocals and his harshness within his voice, sharp enough to cut the atmosphere is unlike anybody else. This is especially true with ‘DAYTONA’ where his rapping is as lethal as his storytelling.

‘DAYTONA’ was a monumental upgrade from his ... read more

Dry Cleaning - Secret Love
52

‘Secret Love’ might be the Emilia Perez of albums this decade.

I’ve never heard of ‘Dry Cleaning’ before, I saw the critic reviews on AOTY and thought, ‘why not give it a listen?’ And, after contemplating whether I’m not understanding a crucial aspect of what makes this project so good, and countless re-listens. I’ve decided that, this album is suffering from “I’m different, so therefore I’m good”, syndrome.

The Kid LAROI - BEFORE I FORGET
67

Imagine scrapping a whole album to create a sad boy ‘im so depressed’ album…and it’s actually not that awful?

The Kid LAROI’s anticipated release from his latest album “THE FIRST TIME”, has been getting all the white girls hyped. And what we got was a project, that although still is sonically and creatively flawed, is a great evolution of Laroi’s singing abilities and effort making a collection of tracks that feel like it’s actually MADE ... read more

Kelela - Raven
82

Kelela’s “Raven” is a poetic representation of how grief and rejection, despite the turmoil it will inevitably cause, will be the reason behind growth and maturity.

“Raven” is a grim record in comparison to her more futuristic, alternative R&B sound she went for in “Take Me Apart”. Because of her risk this project was always bound to receive mixed ratings. Although in my opinion, it doesn’t meet the raw power and progressive production to ... read more

Amindi - me rn
21

This EP sounds like eating a baked potato without seasoning, and the potato is also severely undercooked… Seriously what happened to this EP, Amindi?

Every track sounds so uninspired and underdeveloped. Some don’t even sound finished like, ‘Steady’ where you get barely two minutes of a GarageBand type mellow R&B beat, until it just stops abruptly.

There’s no creative vision behind this EP whatsoever, and honestly it would’ve been better if she ... read more

Rochelle Jordan - Through The Wall
91

A record MADE for the club. ‘Through the Wall’ is a definitive piece of music highly influenced from deep cuts of Deep House, that blows most pieces of house music out of the water, and sets a new standard for dance music altogether.

Rochelle Jordan really didn’t hold back with this record, already at the start of the record she begins with her outstanding vocal performance on ‘Grace’, that transitions unbelievably well into ‘Ladida’, where she shows ... read more

Take Van - Super Sweet
53

Surprise drop from Take Van? And on Christmas?

Super Sweet is a a glittery sounding two song project, with no real flaws between both songs. Each song especially shines with Take Van’s production and creative style. ‘So Synchronized’ in particular is a certified bop and along with ‘Daylight Blush’, is one of my fav tracks from her so far.

Hope these tracks are building up for something big from Take Van, as these tracks really radiate on the best features of her ... read more

Mick Jenkins - A MURDER OF CROWS
75

Despite the awful rollout for this album, Mick Jenkins dropped a raw and dense project that really shines on Mick’s songwriting and lyricism.

“A MURDER OF CROWS” really focuses on Mick’s pure and immense passion for the rapping game, thanks to EMIL's minimalist approach to production, we get a spotlight display of Mick’s rap performances.

Tracks such as ‘DeadStock’ hit extremely hard, especially with the jazzy instrumentals from EMIL, also songs ... read more

FiFi Zhang - FLEETING HEARTS
60

A nice, dreamy, dance-pop record, that can be kind of lackluster at parts and a tiny bit sleepy. Despite this, it is still a creative and cutely produced album by FiFi Zhang.

FiFi’s performance on some songs can feel quite boring and reserved at times, but I guess that's just what she was trying to go for and it didn't land as well as she thought it would’ve.

Otherwise, it’s a cute album I imagine people playing if they are in a vibey mood or if they are ... read more
