first marias album i listened to in its entirety, some really good songs in here that carry the rest but it manages to be still pretty enjoyable throughout. best songs are no one noticed, sienna, and lejos de ti.
there are a few quite exciting songs on here (the titular track as well as when it breaks, particularly), but at other times the sound seems to muddle into a bit of a uniform blob of music that is just ok to leave on in the background for the male manipulator vibes. I think part of my attachment to this band is just that one unreleased song You Might Get What You Want which is sincerely much better than any of the tracks on this album. But it's interesting enough that a few songs will ... read more
obviously a little influenced by the emotional effect of the movie itself, but the music is a huge part of the reason why the movie works. peer pressure, elephant parade, and theme are the highlights, but some of the songs from other artists are great too, like everybody's gotta learn sometime and light & day.
really like the sound sometimes but other times it feels a little droning. definitely a solid album overall though
really really good. i like this one more than sunbather in part because of the interspersed moments of tenderness in it—though that might just be the indie-ass guy in me talking
has quite a few enjoyable songs besides the singles, but has a few widepeepoSleep moments in the middle, and really drops off towards the very end.
honestly probably their best album imo. has a lot of memories for me and i think deservedly so. the adults are talking is as good as it seems and ode to the mets, bad decisions, and brooklyn bridge to chorus are some other good ones but honestly i like almost every song on here.
this was almost the only album i listened to for a small interval of my life, so i might be a little skewed. even though there are some duds here and there, it floats above a pretty high line of lovely listening for enough of its lifespan with some standouts (weirdest year of your life, for me also glove thy flob) which makes it a great album overall to me (if a little bloated).
actually pretty good, with we'll touching the sky being the best track and there being a relatively consistent series of enjoyable tracks at the early end of the album
mostly unremarkable, i thought too small for eyes and hold your own hand were compelling, with it hurts until it doesn't being the stand-out track for sure. most of it for me just blends into the same sort of wailing dragging sound, though.
