This album was one of the ones that really soundtracked 2022 for me. It reminds me of how great that year was overall for me. I think that’s why the rating is so high for me. After revisiting it for the first time since then, I still love it just as much. It’s such an easy listen (non derogatory). The overall sonic color palette of the album with the cover art is so summer coded.
Besides LEMONADE and Camouflage, I felt like this was kinda mid. I definitely wouldn’t say that I dislike the album as a whole so I could see it growing on me eventually, but it’s just not my personal taste when it comes to K-Pop. I actually got whiplash (pun intended) from the switch up from Switchblade to Roll. I genuinely HATED Roll on my first listen, but now that I’m hearing the lyrics, I get it and kinda fw it. Been putting off writing this review for some reason. Anyways, yeah the ke$ha comparisons are completely valid. This is modern day ke$ha if she kept doing that sound that initially got her popular and kept evolving it throughout the years. 11 SONGS, 27 MINUTES?!? They’re just trying to piss me off at this point. I don’t understand why the whole K-Pop industry insists on making everything so damn short. I don’t necessarily hate this project but I definitely didn’t like it as much as I expected/wanted to since they are one of my favorite groups. My main good take away from this album is KAZUHA. Now THIS made me drop dead. This is genuinely phenomenal! My expectations are even higher now for the album. This already has SOTY potential for me but I still think it’ll sound even better within the context of the album. So many things that I loved about this song.
