Great release! The noise track was a bit odd but the rest of it was phenomenal. Cool to hear the heavier side of Nearly Mine.
One of the best melodic hardcore releases I've ever heard. Listen to this EP, big things coming from these guys. Blood, sweat, and tears in this record. Best track gotta be the last, Your Love's Grove. Only con with that track is that it's the end of this EP.
Pretty cool record! Favorite track is David Sedaris easily. I can definitely hear the Brand New influence that half of the people who worked on the album would bring lol. It's nothing insane but it's basic and it works. Great work Kelsey.
Painfully overrated. I would never ever choose to listen to this. If I want to listen to a chronically online loser who strongly hints at being a furry sing badly for 12 minutes over the worst produced indie instrumental ever, I would listen to... you guessed it, Car Seat Headrest, who the artist strongly hints at clearly being a plain ripoff of, and who is mentioned in 90% of these reviews. The music here is just so noisy and painful to listen to that it makes it so the vocals are covered up ... read more
This is one of the most beautiful, charming, honest, and heartbreaking albums ever. The tracks rip you to shreds in the deepest and most enchanting ways, and then right at the very end, you're taken right back to the first track, right where we started. If you, like me, are scrounging around the site looking for a good emo album to get into and are thinking about listening to this, please do. It's a true experience. Thank you to Christian and the rest of The Hotelier for letting us ... read more
Best: XO, I Slept, Dark Alley
Worst: Sophomore Slump, Nobody Puts, Champagne
This is a classic. Lots of memories with this album's CD in the background. Are the lyrics over-the-top angsty and smart-ass-y? Yes. Probably the worst part on some songs. But like come on, it's so simple and so effective at what it wants to do. It's not the best FOB album but I'll never be too cool for this record.
Best:Tell That Mick, Chicago Is So Two Years Ago, Patron Saint
Worst: Dead On Arrival, Reinventing, Grenade Jumper
This is a great first album, especially for a genre full of pretty meh debuts. Lots of hits, but you can only listen to some much of it. It is so, so formulaic it's really just up to which songs you hear first that determines your favorites, because all the other songs are the exact same. It's impressive for a debut but it's not too crazy
Best songs: Faget, Blind, Helmet In the Bush
Worst songs: Fake, Lies, Predictable
This album is actually disgusting. It's truly an uncomfortable listen and sometimes it's to the point where you want to turn it off but you just can't stop. It's a car crash, but it's a classic, truly. Creative, disturbing, angry, so damn dark. I don't know if I would say it's aged perfectly but it still can resonate. You get the sense that JD is a genuinely disturbed person. He ... read more
Best song: Jim Bogarts
Worst: Nothing else was very interesting
I'm 95% sure these dudes have 3 good songs, Twin Sized Mattress, West Virginia, and Swear To God. Their whole discography is comparable to ACDC where nothing is horrible but very very few tracks stand out, because they're literally all the same song. This EP is just the same folk-punk song over and over and all the stoner 13 year old girls and stone 20 year old men love it for some reason. Really really mid, so it gets a ... read more
Best songs: Do I Wanna Know, Fireside, I Wanna Be Yours
Worst songs: R U Mine
First listen, so this might change. Very impartial to most of these songs, especially since I've heard all but Do I Wanna Know only once. I can respect it. Definitely will need to give it multiple listens.
This is seriously, unironically an amazing song. I cannot make up a bad thing about this song, it's pretty perfect.
Watched it with my girlfriend for the first time. It was cool but her dog died while we were watching it:(
Best songs: Pave Paradise, Bostons, Bird In the Cage
Worst songs: Hard Bark, The Taste of the Floor, Reflections
This is an incredibly well made album. It's not trying to be fancy or innovative but it perfectly does every single thing a hardcore album should do. Pave Paradise is definitely one of the best Hardcore songs I've ever heard. Definitely check this shit out.
Best songs: Blue Eyes, Britrock, Beachboy
Worst songs: Wait, Becky, Lion's Den
Yes, it's just the Front Bottoms, but it's still really enjoyable. Very raw vocals and I love the sound that songs like Dead Bird and Blue Eyes have. Oh also, the synth in Bottom saves that song from being in the worst category, I LOVE synths. Overall, pretty solid midwest emo album.
Best songs: Never Wanted To Dance, Due, Lights Out
Worst songs: Animal, Mark David Chapmen, On It
Why was this not horrible? Like, if you go into this wanting good music that will change your life you will be severely disappointed but it's really not that bad. Some really annoying stinky songs in here and it falls off pretty bad in the last half but it's not the worst thing ever. Fuck MSI but this is okay.
Best songs: Straight Edge, Minor Threat, Seeing Red
Worst songs: Nothing really stood out as bad
Look yall, it's a nine minute record. I may hate Ian MacKaye but this is the basics of hardcore punk. It's pretty much the constitution of the culture and genre. Is it the most interesting thing ever? No. Is it so unambitious and grounded that making a bad song is impossible? Yes. This is a classic album that anyone in the hardcore scene should hear.
