Sunborn - Infinity Pool

This band keeps releasing really good songs and one of my favorite parts about them is the atmospheric production they have. This type of production is definitely my favorite because I like Ambient and I like Heavy/Energic music, the only thing that I like more is when all of these elements are perfectly blended and balanced together, which only empowers the whole thing

Boundaries - Only endless
80

Song is really decent, sounds new to Boundaries and I appreciate it, however...

I don't like that mix at all, and I know it might be an annoying thing to say, but I was one of those people that wasn't mad about original mix of their first single before it was changed, because I thought it was aligned with their artistic vision perfectly. However, the mix in this new song is not it... You know, there are examples where the mix is bad and song is good and you don't really pay ... read more

PRESIDENT - DOOM LOOP

This is the next level of overrated. There is something about it that feels weird, clumsy and badly produced. The vocals aren't good either. President is definitely for people that never had experience with this type of music previously, I'm pretty sure that most of them are mainly listeners from mainstream, because there are thousands and thousands of bands that sound much better and prove that President is one of the most generic and one of the most awkward examples of this specific ... read more

Periphery - A Pale White Dot
72

Never was a biggest Periphery fan, enjoyed some of their songs but I was always struggling to return to any of their material. Still not a biggest fan

Allt - Snowblind
87

I know that nerds are gonna hate this song, but if you like vibes, you will 100% love it. This song is very simple but it's very well done which is basically all you need sometimes

Not gonna lie, it sounds very much like Invent Animate, the vocal approach as well. It's so similar that at first I thought it was Marcus from Invent Animate. Also the way guitars and ambience blended together while reflecting a melancholic melody reminds me of the Heavener atmosphere instantly, which to ... read more

breakkaway - Run away with me
90

Finally a band with djent elements that experiments with some lofi soundscape, besides Oceans Ate Alaska

156/Silence - No Arms
88

Certainly sounds like modern Thornhill in specific parts, but in a decent way. Chorus and melody are really interesting, almost reminiscent of Australian band Bloom. The song is very replayable overall and gets better over time, which is a wonderful thing

MIRAR - Gradus ad Parnassum
30

Hot take, thall doesn't sound good by default and it's very difficult to make something good with it. Some bands are able to make a proper thall-oriented songwriting, but this band is on another level. They take the worst part of thall and create stuff out of it whilst taking it to anxiety levels, which is obviously very talented, but I find it completely unlistenable and can't see myself going back to it, because I can't find any situation where I'd be listening to ... read more

Port Noir - The Dark We Keep
81

Very good atmospheric album, this is my favorite type of production, it's reminiscent of The Dark Pool by Thornhill and the whole album feels very inspired by Deftones overall, also reminds me of The Butterfly Effect. The only problem I have with this album is that it feels repetitive

Holding Absence - Reflection
72

My least favorite part about this song is actually melody, too simple for my taste, the coolest part is a second half and chorus. Feels very much like Linkin Park which is cool, but in my opinion it makes the song seem more generic and radio friendly and I've outgrown this specific style, it would've been better if they used synths similar to stuff by Porter Robinson unless it was intentionally a Linkin Park reference. Really good choice for single if it's the weakest song on the ... read more

Lost In Separation - Lost In Separation
87

Really great album from an underrated band. Feels like a proper slight mix of emo and progressive metalcore. For fans of bands like Livealie, Hollow Front

sace6 - brutalist
70

I think thall is ruining this band for me, too much heavy for the sake of heavy in parts that don't really work well with it

This album is a perfect example of why Thall is really hard to master and make listenable and meaningful unlike djent, because thall is ruining identity of this band. It would've been a great pop album in the first place, but it feels like they're adding heavy elements and thall just for nothing, it's heavy for the sake of heavy without a purpose

Karmanjakah - Diamond Morning

Karmanjakah are easily the best thall band right now, they're bringing more melody into it which may actually fix it, the riffs are incredible. I appreciate how experimental and individual it feels despite being thall which is difficult to make meaningful and listenable in terms of songwriting, but I'm slightly disappointed that this album has too many interludes on release, I'm sure that if they gave it more time, they would end up with some amazing songs, even though interludes ... read more

Northlane - Evian
94

When you wanna dance but you still need some breakdowns

Loathe - Revenant
95

I like how an unprepared listener may not understand this song on a first listen and think it's just random noise, but it makes more sense the more you're going back to it and eventually becomes hypnotic. This requires a very deep level of balance between songwriting and mix and it's one of my favorite things about heavy music, also it has a very subconscious summery vibe which is difficult to apply to a very heavy song

Karmanjakah - Sun, astray
95

This is peak. Notice how it doesn't have Buster's mix 😂

Karmanjakah are really good at doing melodic Thall riffs and there are so many bands trying to do this purposelessly for the sake of nothing and without proper understanding of balance

But this... This feels musically meaningful, individual and perfectly balanced

Invent Animate - Fall Like Rain
87

I respect you if you take your time and read what I'm saying, because I need your opinion and perspective about this

Invent Animate are my favorite band and I really enjoyed the song, but here's the problem. Buster's mix is perfect and it makes so many bands sound similar and faceless. The bands that don't give a chance to other talented producers like for instance George Lever or Lance Prenc or anybody else are destined to lose identity or a part of their individuality ... read more

Midwinter - A Love I Hope Will Haunt Me Forever
74

While I'm getting tired of thall, I think this band is good at combining modern metalcore with thall elements, and surprisingly they're doing it slightly different compared to many thall-influenced metalcore bands

To me they're like if Livealie had some amount of different influences, but the fact that they're able to connect all the pieces together while containing some individuality shows that they are talented and definitely capable of doing more. There is a ... read more

Bilmuri - KINDA HARD

New Bilmuri is a great background mall music, jk I think some songs are really good and I really like some choruses, I think my favorite one is still the one with ADTR feature

"I personally think it works really well, guess it's all about preferences. Yes, they need some time for improvement since they're basically still a new band and have only few songs, but "bedroom pop" or chill with modern elements is exactly what I needed from a certain modern band, if we don't include songs like Been Here Before by The Plot In You, where something similar is not even a fusion unlike here"
On PRESIDENT - DOOM LOOP
"@SAMDUGGAN4 Never attacked anyone, it was just an assumption based on what I've heard from President so far. In my opinion this is simply bad in terms of production and in order to understand it, it requires more experience with a similar type of music, which makes me think that listeners of this band are mostly new to a genre. Because there are so many examples of what makes other bands in a similar genre great and outstanding, unlike President that feels beyond generic and boring"
On vorgossos's review of 156/Silence - No Arms
"I think the part with chorus and melody consists a very visible emotion. Personally I'm glad that they're trying something different this time, since I didn't like their previous single at all. I also thought this song was individual because not as many bands trying to blend some Thornhill melodies with oldschool synth and hardcore influence"

"The first two albums by Novelists is the best stuff by Novelists, third one felt like a b-side of Noir to an extent"
On jedraszek's review of Invent Animate - Heavener (Definitive)
"These three new songs sound completely different to the original album and they perfectly showcase the different sides of the band and where they can go with their style, nonsense review. Also Without a Whisper reimagined is fantastic, it has some really cool chill approach"
On Legoshi's review of Invent Animate - Heavener
"Sounds like nonsense to me, they sound nothing like Architects except for few specific elements that feel inspired by Architects. It's kinda crazy that you didn't even mention False Meridian, which is easily the best song on that album and it's one of the most unique metalcore songs of this decade The so called "lack of variety" is coming from the first four songs that have simply the same key, but they're all pretty different overall, although I can understand this point"
On Tundra44's review of PEUR - Fire Cleanse
"I agree :)"
