Sometimes I Might Be Introvert is an ambitious, theatric approach to the dissection of fame, trauma and identity and is carried out with intense precision and depth by Little Simz. Through a constant juxtaposition between sweeping instrumetnals and two levels of vocal perfromance: one an assertive cutting voice, and "the Introvert", a conversational, reflective voice, Simz seamlessly balances Black womanhood, family trauama, and the paralyzing nature of fame--one of the most impressive LPs in modern hip hop.
LP! (in its superior form, Offline Version) is explosive, erratic and uncompromisingly autonomous, yet by far JPEGMAFIA's most controlled and mature project to date. The instrumentals rattle and impact the ear with a sense of raw power and energy few hip-hop producers have been able to formally maintain at this level--a consistent, high-level achievement of complex production.
An album that so punctually resonates with the Gen-Z perspective through a blend of infectious sugary pop hooks, high-energy UK garage, and PinkPantheress's signature lo-fi, delicate and deceptively nonchalant vocals. With immense brevity and an ongoing rhythmic tension of supreme ease and anxious smashing beats, PinkPantheress captures the constant fleeting of Gen-Z experiences in a highly enjoyable record--few albums have represented a generational perspective as well as this.
