When I first listened to It Was Written I thought it was a solid album but I didn't get the hype for it. After listening again I finally understand why some people think its close to illmatic. While I think illmatic is his indisputable 10/10, this album definitely showcases some incredible rapping from Nas and some great production throughout.
This is one of Jay Z's best albums. Amazing production throughout and great rapping that all add up to make this great album. It has some of his biggest songs like Dirt Off Your Shoulder and 99 Problems, while also having some great deep cuts.
Good album from Kenny Mason with a nice mixture of different songs, that outro track is amazing.
This was always going to be the best album out of the 3 that he dropped. For me it is one of his best of the decade, around the level of Her Loss. His rapping is decent and there is some nice production throughout this album, although I feel that there are a few tracks that aren't on the level of the rest. Overall a decent release from Drake.
