Such an addictive track! Her vocals really shine in this one. It's disturbingly catchy, until the outro drops that catchy pretense and the song melts down into that anguished guitar. Really cool single from evangeline, I hope to hear more like this from her!
Quadeca's done it again.
This album was every bit as good as he said it would be, then even better! I cannot describe how many emotions this project made me feel. It's like he squeezed life itself into every second, and this album is the most pure, concentrated wonder I've ever heard. The range of styles across the tracklist is nothing short of a miracle, and the storytelling across the tracklist is even more so. As we watch the sailor gradually slip further into insanity it ... read more
Quadeca explores his most experimental production yet in this incredible diverse mixtape… and it is BEAUTIFUL. Every week I rediscover a song from this album and become obsessed all over again, because there is just nothing else like the music on SCRAPYARD. The variety of the instrumentation here is impeccable, and Quadeca weaves all of these complex layers of sound together into these strange, exciting worlds for the listener. The atmosphere is so thick, you can cut it with a knife. ... read more
This was my first exposure to Magdalena Bay, and I was absolutely stunned! The incredible quality of the music is SO consistent all the way through the tracklist, and the whole thing feels like one cohesive (and very psychedelic) experience as an album. Mica’s voice is an acquired taste, but that airy texture and high-pitched vocal range work so perfectly for the surreal atmosphere of this sound. Meanwhile, the attention to detail on every second, and every aspect of the production, is ... read more
Crywolf’s latest album immerses the listener in larger-than-life soundscapes with quite a cinematic flair. The album flows like waves in the ocean— the music draws back, then gradually gives way to dense, massive swells. Justin’s singing is consistently amazing, and so are his features. However, the cinematic maximalism can come across as melodramatic, and even somewhat inauthentic at times.
Everything about this project is beautiful and stunningly cathartic. Kai nails every aspect of the production; the songs are easy on the ear, but tough on the heartstrings. His vocal delivery perfectly conveys what he wants the listener to feel— every line leaves me more crushed than the last. It’s an incredibly sad project, especially with the context we now have: this was his note.
But he has left behind an amazing legacy with this album, And his memory will live on for years with ... read more
This is my most emotional and experimental album. I spent months working to develop a consistent sound and atmosphere throughout, but still gave each song its own unique world. Then, I tie the whole story together in the last song.
My music in the future won’t incorporate near as much Drum N Bass (if at all), but this was a step in the right direction and I’m very proud of it. To anyone reading this who actually takes a listen, I hope you enjoy.
I'm so blown away by this incredible journey of a song, I'm going to listen to it maybe 3 more times before I fully review it but... I love how Quadeca just creates these beautiful worlds of sound, and it's so easy to get lost in them. This album is about to redefine music for me, again.
A solid album that clearly reflects the influence of the artists that have defined this genre, like Jane Remover, of course. Elliebell has a great feel for songwriting, and her voice is amazing in all of the melodies she sings. However, when all is said and done, the album just feels… flat. The production takes a few swings, but there’s something missing. I hope that in her future records, elliebell makes a more conscious effort to carve her own path stylistically, and be more ... read more
Quannnic has found a very impactful blend of shoegaze and indietronica, and he takes that to the next level with this album. His voice is very smooth, and he has a very nostalgic way of blending it into the mix. On headphones, the huge swaths of sound almost submerge you in music. The album starts off slow, with the intro the Think With Your Lungs. It practically lulls you into a false sense of security before the real quannnic sound hits you full force with powerful guitar chords and bright ... read more
This album was my first exposure to wishlane, but it absolutely won’t be the last. I was incredibly impressed the whole way through, with almost every aspect of the music. The pristine production has a spectacular attention to detail in the sound design; his lyrics are consistently thought-provoking and just vague enough to get the mood across; and his AMAZING voice shines throughout the entire runtime. But there is, of course, a standout: String Theory is quite possibly a top 5 song of ... read more
I love how Quedronol’s production is filled to the brim with raw emotion! This album is packed with incredibly cathartic moments, from the sonic scream at the end of contortion dream to the lush, noisy wall of sound at the climax of sudbury. Quedronol is truly a master of these sound walls; they’re so saturated and layered, overwhelming in the best way possible. But the runtime between the climactic moments is equally beautiful, with a consistently immersive atmosphere heard best in ... read more
