i think too much of the discussion around this album is wrapped up in isaac and his departure and while that is understandable i also think it is pushing too much attention on to a member who only was 1 of 7 members of a band. bc,nr is and always has been more than just isaac and i think this album shows that perfectly now that they have fully found their sound after bush hall, and if they havent, i think this album is an excellent step in the right direction. songs like besties with more ... read more
reality to planet desperation is biggest whiplash this band has ever given me. reality is in strong contention for the bands best song and uses its every second to deliver some of will's best writing in years and then immediately after planet desperation takes 19 minutes to meander around and then ending on an interpolation of gethsemane which frankly feels unearned. though, most of my complaints with that song probably come from a lack of understanding of the narrative of this album and ... read more
an album fully set in its aesthetic while still managing to push the boundaries of language because actually what the fuck are they saying like i know thats the bit with the cocteau twins like thats the joke or whatever put genuinely what the fuck how am i supposed to understand the words. idk man this albums cool.
the type of album that reminds you just how beautiful music can really be. justin vernan proves himself as one of the greatest songwriters of our time with just his first album with one of the most comforting depictions of heartbreak ive seen. every instrument is used perfectly and built around vernan's impecable vocals. simply wonderful.
favorite songs: flume, skinny love, for emma
least favorite: team
bloated beyond belief with very few to none wholly original ideas. im not saying carti has to reinvent the wheel or anything just do something to make more of the songs stand out from each other. the few moments of life on this album are buried in the middle or brought down by an AI carti verse. im not a carti fan by any means but i think this is the first time i would call an album of his boring
an extremely touching album that is the synthesis of twikipedia's development as an artist. can not listen to it front to back with out crying, simply beautiful.
favorite songs: garden, learn yourself, boy, seams, anyone but you,
least favorite: cardboard boxes
the first ten or so times i listened to this album i fully did not get it. it felt slow and disorganized and too quiet. but my friend really liked it so i stuck with it and kept trying to understand. and on that eleventh listen i just let the album guide me through its insane decisions and i think i finally got it.
favorite songs: are you looking up, candy, alesis
least favorite: DNM
the most bizarre hip-hop record ive heard, danny brown is off his rocker in equal ways hilarious and terrifying.
favorite song: downward spiral, really doe, ain't it funny
least favorite: hell for it
jane's side project proves to be just as interesting as their man material, ghostholding is a much slower and softer record than the artist previous step into guitar centric music. 2023's census designated, but still clearly has all the substance and creativity that is a staple in jane's music. the middle of the album it seems to lose a bit if steam, besides for the most abrasive song on the album is dead forever, but once you hit the 3 singles that cap off this album it shows ... read more
a brilliant album filled with some of best production and rapping i’ve heard. the grooves on this album are simply unmatched and simz is a fantastic story teller from front to back. just lovely
a modern classic by all definitions, despite its title, hornet disaster is nothing short of a masterpiece. also theres an NL sample how can u not love this
very good, but still clearly finding their sound
fav song: (forever????????), cold weather, yoshis island, orchids
least fav: planetarium
what happened to kanye man :(. his last truly great solo album, yeezus is an afront on the senses, especially for an unassuming kanye fan in 2013. the tight 10 tracks are amazing front to back that keep you guessing at every turn. the last time kanye truly excited me
fav tracks: on sight, new slaves, hold my liquor, bound 2
least fav: im in it
idk man this shit rips ass album is packed with heaters
fav songs: fill in the blank. drunk drivers/killer whales, the ballad of the costa concordia
least favorite: unforgiving girl
(edit 90->80)
all of the songs except the ballad of the costa concordia have grown off me a lot on repeat listens. still a strong album with an extremely high high but everything before and after keep getting lower
the most tyler tyler the creator album, if that makes any sense. seen a lot of people say that this is tyler's mr morale and in some ways i agree, this is tylers most honest and personal album, like how mr morale is kendricks. absolutely fantastic, like every recent tyler album.
favorites songs: st. chroma, darling i, take your mask off, thought i was dead, like him, balloon
least favorite: judge judy
a sad fall from grace. this album isn't all bad, but most tracks seem to drag or feel a little hollow, they clearly aren't having as much fun on this album as they were back in 2017. especially after ginger, their biggest album commercially, this album seems empty.
fav songs; buzzcut, the light, whats the occasion, dont shoot up the party, dear lord, the light pt II
an album so good i cant even start to describe it. an absolute sonic marvel from front to back and my personal favorite album of all time. life changing in the purest form, an absolute must listen.
favorite tracks: tell me a joke, picking up hands, born yesterday, knots, fantasyworld, fractions of infinity
least favorite: dont mind me
