What did I just listen to?
It’s everything great about progressive rock condensed into a single album from 2005. I can’t understand how it only just found its way into my life now. It’s a masterpiece and should be mandatory listening for any fan of Pink Floyd or King Crimson.
The guitars, and the way every instrument has its own distinct role in the first track, make every one of those 20 minutes worth it.
A true work of art.
I don’t know whether this album is good or bad, or what a music critic would say about it, but it’s the record that made me understand rock and roll when I was a kid, and I owe it everything.
This album blends the sound of Neutral Milk Hotel and The Strokes. And in a fair world, it would be widely recognized.
I guess if what you’re looking for is minimalist pop with heavily modulated vocals and soulless lyrics, then it’s fine
I don’t think there’s anything quite like this album or the feeling of hearing it at fifteen, blasting it at full volume, with “Rocks Off” shaking the windows from that first burst of guitar noise, or the “Tumbling Dice” chorus hitting a little later, after the wild rush of “Rip This Joint” and the unexpected but perfect boogie of “Shake Your Hips.”

Nothing new around here, just another batch of remixable tracks completely devoid of feeling.
The album of the year. strange, sentimental, and raw.
If the Rolling Stones had formed in this century, this is how they would sound
Those who don’t think this album is perfect should seriously reconsider their musical taste
I’ve always found it strange that this album never became a classic. It strikes a great balance between energetic, radio-friendly tracks like the opener and Silly Boy, and songs that should have been classics but never quite got their due, such as Band of the Salvation Army. With well-played pianos, lush harmonies, and vibrant horns, it’s an accessible and instantly addictive record.
This is what new music should sound like.
This is a true album in every sense, emotional, dynamic, adventurous, and created with the intent to transcend.
It blends garage and breakbeat, with tracks made for the dancefloor or for an introspective journey.
I hope Overmono continues pursuing works that stand the test of time
An album this honest and well put together deserves far more attention. It’s a beautiful record straightforward, well-produced, and made to be listened to on repeat.
This album is a true masterpiece. In an almost magical way, it distills forty years of music into something utterly timeless. It possesses the rare power to transport the listener to desolate, melancholic, and unexpectedly radiant soundscapes. Undoubtedly a 10/10 — a future classic that deserves to be heard by our grandchildren and generations beyond.
This music is tailor-made for a hyperstimulated TikTok generation with no attention span whatsoever. It’s horrible and utterly unlistenable.
An absolutely perfect album, featuring original compositions and reinterpretations of classic tangos, with the bandoneón played by one of the most brilliant composers of the 20th century.
Ty Segall may be the last bastion of true rock. This album is tightly composed and sonically impressive, a clear example of how to craft a high-quality record with a contemporary edge
