I recall well the occasion on which I beheld Shining perform live, in the year of our Lord 2011, opening for Devin Townsend. My first thought was thus: here lies a thing worthy of further excavation. The concert itself afforded me great enjoyment, and the fervour these fellows brought forth upon the stage was unmistakable. As of late, my ear-holes have been graced with no small measure of joy and chaos these past year or so. Betwixt The Callous Daoboys, Orgone, and Sallow Moth, I have learned to cherish the more claustrophobic modes of music.
