Static Dress are the face of emo’s nostalgic new wave. They’re not here to provide nostalgia, though; they are here to kill it and build the present.

NME
The Leeds quartet’s second album is a deliberately more intense listening experience than their breakout debut.

Kerrang!

With sharper songwriting and a more eclectic palette, Static Dress have conjured emo magic on their deeply conceptual second album, Injury Episode.

The Line of Best Fit
In an age of irony, it’s refreshing to see an act who have so clearly bet on themselves, who are aiming for the grandest stages available to them and, on the face of this evidence, have the material required to carry them there.

IMAGE FRAGMENTS

Childhood memories don't disappear, but are always stored in some neural circuit that we can no longer access.

The strong emotion associated with an event, on the contrary, tends to fix the memory, making it easier to retrieve.

A few years ago, Static Dress leader went through a period in which repressed memories from his childhood resurfaced.
He described the experience as horrific, something that even made him wish he could never live again.

Are you satisified?

Not to take away from RCD but this album has a lot more substance in it than I expected. It takes its time to build massive tracks on here to stand out individually. This band has gone leaps and bounds from being huge for its chaotic energy. I was also surprised by there being more clean vocals than I expected with emotive lyrics that elevate the material. Injury Episode, the sophomore effort from Static Dress, sounds much more mature and cohesive in exchange of toning down a bit the electronic and glitch elements, and despite not being as memorable on a first listen as Rouge Carpet Disaster, it also feels more welcoming to revisit somehow, like if its own narrative was waiting to be further discovered.

I don't know, man. This was my first impression of the band, and it was okay. Not something I'd actively look for, but not something that would make me want to kill myself either, so I guess that's that.

I really liked "...Hospice" and "Adult Diamond." These two slower tracks were absolutely amazing, and I'm definitely going to come back to them. Unfortunately, they're the only songs that really stuck with me. The rest was kind of uninteresting to ... read more

Metalcore stuff can be really hit or miss for me, but this was pretty good.
