Kind of funny that this reissue took out all the tracks that I thought were the weakest on the original album. Adding "Perfectly" as a Eusexua track was such a smart move and is definitely the stand-out song among the five new tracks. I was a little underwhelmed by Eartheater's feature on "Striptease" and didn't really think they added much to the song. Fortunately, nothing on this record reached the lows of "Childlike Things" and therefore, is a stronger ... read more
Feels like a victory lap, I'm so thankful to be a magbay fan. ❤️❤️
The weakest of the singles so far, but idrc so it's peak.
I tried really hard not to succumb to the "first half is better than the second half" mindset when listening to this album, but it really is that simple. The first 7 tracks are probably some of the strongest Gaga songs in a long while, and even though some of the lyrics aren't that compelling, they sure as hell sound killer. "The Fame Monster" and "Born This Way" have such distinct sounds, and the first half of "Mayhem" captures that feeling so well. ... read more
Another surprise banger! As someone who is not too well-versed in the "House" genre, I was excited to finally get a taste. Who knew I would be stepping into something so captivating? One of the most consistent albums I've listened to this year; it felt like a never-ending party on some distant planet. The production on each song is just outstanding, and Rochelle's vocals are killer. She rides the beats eloquently and sounds beautiful doing so too. The only critique is that ... read more
I will admit, I was a little concerned whether I was going to like this album or not due to the fact that I didn't really like Cameron Winter's singing style in songs like "Love Takes Miles." However, that concern blew over by the time the third song hit. It was truly an "if you get it, you get it" type of moment, and I'm so glad I finally get it. His vocals are so zany and gritty, but it really works in the context of the song's instrumentations and ... read more
It’s very heartbreaking to witness an artist of Taylor’s status produce something this low of quality. There is truly nothing of value in this album, and my life will be significantly better if I never listen to it ever again.
Probably beating a dead horse (of absolute agreement) with this, but "Vespertine" is a perfect album with no flaws whatsoever. This whole album is laced with pure bliss and magic, and I want it injected inside of me. Thank you, Godjörk, for creating music.
Never knew music could sound this way. Jane's voice complements her gritty production perfectly; there was never a moment where I was bored. I don't consider myself a "digicore" fan yet, but I can confidently say that I will be seated for whatever Jane conjures up next (praying we get another Danny Brown collab; their chemistry on "Psychoboost" was just out of this world).
Apologies to all melancholy brunettes (& sad women) cuz this is looking to be a very underwhelming project
I'll admit, it took me a couple of listens to fully absorb myself in this album. The production is more flashy and energetic when compared to the sultry atmosphere she created in 'What's Your Pleasure?'. In songs like "Begin Again" and "Free Yourself," Ware demonstrates masterfully how she takes these lively disco anthems to another level when combined with her impressive vocals. However, not every song gets the same tender loving care. Some feel quite ... read more
