EDIT: 28/8/24 (81 -> 84):
This Oasis reunion is arguably the biggest event of the decade so far in terms of musical events (even as a Blur fan I can admit this).
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I've always been a Blur fan and a bit of an Oasis hater, but even I can admit this is a really good album. 'Supersonic' is, of course, outstanding, but then there's also other really good songs like 'Married With Children' and 'Live Forever', not much drivel either. Also, ... read more
I am sick to death of hearing this. It is not "fun", it is not "entertaining". It makes me want to remove my ears.
'The College Dropout' is still better, but this is still immaculate.
One of the best songs of all time. If you don't like this I'm sorry but you're not a trustworthy person.
One of the best FIFA anthems in the past 10 years maybe.
Absolutely criminal that this wasn't on the album.
Lyrically, this is a 10/10, very depressing though. The only things holding it back, I feel, are some of the instrumentals not being particularly inspired or interesting and some slightly annoying vocal performances.
Completely different vibe from the last single but just as good with a really good feature to boot.
I'll get heat for this, but I find it so annoying.
EDIT: 8/6/24 (Original Score: 50):
Grown on me a whole lot. Still not amazing by any means but pleasant. Killer voice too.
Can't believe anyone could make Lil Baby look actually somewhat talented in comparison, but Central Cee somehow managed it.
Super underrated, definitely reeks of "Car Commercial" vibes, but not bad in the slightest. One of the few songs on this album Mark Ronson managed to NOT fuck up.
I don't think another album, hell, another artist / group of artists will ever intertwine politics and music so well ever again.
Genuinely, there is nothing wrong with this album at all. There are no low points, everything is impeccable. Easily one of my all-time favourites.
Not as bad as others say it is, but the lows are INCREDIBLY low, specifically 'I Wanna Be Yours' with how baffilingly horrific the lyrics are. The album also runs into a serious case of "most-of-this-sounds-the-exact-same-itis", and even then it isn't particularly inspired or engaging melodies being repeated. Still, there's a couple bangers to stop it being completely void of value
Yeah, absolutely not for me. Not bad by any means, but it was genuinely unbearable for me to listen to simply because I don't fuck with stuff like this, nothing wrong with it though, it has it's audience.
It was a big risk going in this direction after 'Favourite Worst Nightmare', but I think it works. Just about, at least.
The highs on this album are great (ESPECIALLY 'Crying Lightning'), but it also sinks into uncharted lows for this band at this point. I think it's a combination of Alex Turner not exactly hitting the mark in terms of vocals and Josh Homme probably not being the best choice in terms of producers to go with. He's an incredible producer, don't get me wrong, but I prefer almost ... read more
Kinda just alright at first but gets really, really annoying the more you listen to it.
