We didn't need another full-length album of generic pop music about getting repeatedly railed and being a menace to men, just over a year after the last full-length album about getting repeatedly railed and being a menace to men
This is genuinely scary - from the production, to the lyrics, to his whole persona of current - it's completely terrifying. He feels he's lost so many people (Mother, Kim, Kids, Bianca, Audience etc.) that there must be a reason, so he's living through all his trauma - past and present - and believes it's because he's an evil and awful person at heart, so is living up to it. This isn't music and should not be sensationalised - fuck everyone involved in ... read more
NR until I give it some time and a few more listens, this is purely based off first impressions off of one initial listen. I love Tyler, seen him live multiple times, so I've been very excited for this album.
INITIAL, LIVE THOUGHTS:
As always, Tyler's production is unique, rich and atmospheric. Mixing is strange at points, though that isn't something I really care about and is usually fixed over time. The album starts strong, St Chroma is a very strong opener and this carries ... read more
AOTY so far by a fair bit, fantastic production and absolutely transcendent - it's a joy!
I was doing a track by track review but got far too bored, it's not bad but there's absolutely nothing standout. It's aggressively mediocre and thus extremely boring. I cannot express my hatred for Jack Antonoff more, I don't know how he's still so active within the space, he is subjectively and objectively awful. You can specifically tell which tracks he produced based off of how boring they are and the clear lack of drums.
Very weirdly produced and put together, feels like it lacks any real cohesion. Also, Jack Antonoff is single handedly ruining the landscape of modern pop and needs to be locked up.
Dua Lipa follows up 2020's 'Future Nostalgia' with her new album here, after a 4 year wait. I'm really excited to see what she has to offer with her upcoming headline set at Glastonbury; the singles for me have been hit or miss with the standout being Houdini, so I'm interested to see how to album pans out.
LIVE TRACK REVIEW:
End Of An Era - 6/10:
It's a very sun-soaked opener, the bassline is very groovy and it all feels very 80's/90's. That isn't a complaint, I'm actually quite a fan - ... read more
Justice are back after 8 years with their new LP. They've not impressed ever since their debut, so hopefully this is a return to form for the band.
I was halfway through doing a track by track review of this album before realising I couldn't, I just don't like it at all. I find it boring, dull, tedious and breaks no new ground at all. Tame Impala tracks are the standouts for me, as well as the closing track with Thundercat, but without the features I just really don't enjoy this.
As I said, ... read more
I've never really listened to much St Vincent before, but weirdly found myself anticipating this release off the back of the three singles that got released.
LIVE TRACK REVIEW:
Hell Is Near - 8/10:
It's so sonically rich man, it's a great little opener - sort of creepy.
Reckless - 8/10:
HOLY SHIT THE DROP IS SO GOOD. It's so dark and moody and then BANG my eardrums have ASCENDED.
Broken Man - 9/10:
THIS IS SO RAW, I love how unpolished, inventive and badass this sounds oh my God. It's so ... read more
Taylor Swift is the most famous musician - arguably person - on the planet. I've really enjoyed some of her projects in the past and some of the rereleases, but really disliked others; so I go into this completely unbiased. I feel there's an insane amount of overhating and overstanning, so am interested to go into this with an open mind.
That being said, Jack Antonoff is a musical terrorist.

Fortnight (feat. Post Malone) - 3/10:
This is literally the blandest, most boring ... read more
I have genuinely never understood the J. Cole hype and 'he's top 3' debate - find him extremely mediocre at best and no project he's dropped has really made people stop in their tracks and be like 'WOW'. Overrated af and this project is a reflection of that.
Regarding the diss, one line in particular - 'I don't want the prestige, fuck the Grammy's because they never done nothing for me'. You've been nominated 17 times bro, you have to SUBMIT and ACTIVELY PUT YOURSELF IN for consideration!? If ... read more
This is alright, I guess. It's nothing special at all and there's some really grim lowlights ('Feeling Good Today' and 'He Loves Me Yeah!'). I've never been the biggest fan of Faye Webster, but she does have songs I really enjoy and I look forward to her new releases, though it just seems more of the same and it's a bit tiresome personally. Not exactly all that memorable for me and not something I find myself going back to listen to unfortunately, though it's not bad.
I've seen this album fall from high 70s/low 80s and the most popular user reviews constantly edit their scores as soon as the Fantano review dropped, in a competition to be the best person of all time
Not gonna give this one a score, but the amount of dickriding is absolutely unbelievable. I love Andre 3000 as much as the next guy but some of the scores on this thing are so biased purely because of that fact. Looking at it from a purely enjoyable, subjective point of view it just isn't there - it breaks no new ground in the genre while also being excessively long for what it is. I'm certain that if this exact album came out but was instead done by 'Tones and I', then the reception and scores ... read more
Olivia Rodrigo is back following up her debut album 'SOUR' with this follow up effort 'GUTS'. A lot of the songwriting here shows development and maturity with some great production and vocals to back. Particular standouts personally include the opening track 'all-american bitch', 'ballad of a homeschooled girl', 'pretty isn't pretty' and 'teenage dream'. Though the tracklist wavers at times and feels a bit monotonous, boring and done before on the debut, I can appreciate that this is a solid ... read more
Carrying on with the Taylor train with the next step forward in Taylor's career with 1989. Starting from debut and coming through to Red (TV), Taylor's evolution as an artist is evident, she's embracing a more pop-ish sound, it's been fun to see such confidence and experimentation changing through every release.
LIVE TRACK REVIEW:
Welcome To New York - 5/10
I always take the first track off an album as an indicator for how the rest of the album will pan out. The heavily electro/synthpop ... read more
Music video is insane and it has the production and lyrical content to back it - serious contender for SOTY. Fucking wow.
