Another one of those albums where the cover along with some general info I've heard about it has made me extremely curious to check it out, and holy mother of god am I happy I did. It's basically what you can expect from an experimental rock record way ahead of its time.
I was honestly expecting something a lot more aggressive and industrial. This album instead kind of reminded me of Remain in Light in a weird way, the manic and weirdly danceable style, the focus on loops and patterns instead of more conventional song structures, etc. Of course there's a MUCH darker edge to it and in general Deceit's production is just very addicting and unique.
The way this all ties in with themes of war and imperialism adds a lot to the record for me too. It feels like a spontaneous anxious reaction to the fear of the cold war that was roaming around at the time, which I feel was part of a more general movement towards a more anxious and distorted sound in the 80s. (However this is more personal speculation)
Overall it's the kind of album you just have to hear for yourself. It would be impossible to accurately describe what it sounds like, even with my many attempts here. Please go listen to this album if you've ever considered it before, it's an absolute must hear.
