An excellent Body of Work. Pushes the boundaries of musical expression.
Production on this is so good plus it's really nostalgic. There's so much on here as well, the fact the quality stays high throughout (Apart from song 20) is very impressive.
Impressive lyrically with thought provoking storytelling but the beats are largely unimpressive.
A less gritty but more fun approach than some of WSG's later work. Good start to the series.
Very emotionally provocative. You can feel the artist's exhaustion and sadness deeply.
Step up from his previous projects lots of great songs on here. Best song - This Ain't That
Beautiful album, especially the middle and the end - Outro is incredible.
First song is exceptional and the quality is maintained throughout the majority of the album but I struggled to stay entertained throughout.
His accent has really grown on me - this is better than In Haze and there's not any weak songs on here.
The most boring album of all time?
Not even the smallest amount of emotion or willingness to make this album slightly interesting, it sounds like he's been forced to make this half-asleep against his will. Every beat is mediocre at best, and sounds exactly the same as the one before. Somehow the features are boring and fail to provide any real salvation from Gunna's dull monotone flow that plagues this release and tortures your ears. Unique and interesting soundscape with hard beats partly spoiled by the excessive runtime.
The whole album perfectly encapsulates the comedown with energy steadily draining from the songs towards the end of the tracklist. Definitely smokedope's most well-rounded project with hits in the first half like My Chalice, and more vulnerable moments in the second half like Famous where he discusses self-doubt and mental health issues. There is also a wider range of production styles used on this album compared to his previous work, with the two main producers as well as SD on the ... read more
The Alchemist and Freddie Gibbs prove they are still in their prime with this release. Production is clean and enjoyable and Freddie's verses are solid especially with the shots at Akademics and Gunna. The features from Anderson Paak and JID are exceptional. The albums only fault is the production style is very similar in most tracks and Freddie Gibbs isn't known for being the most versatile rapper. Individually, every song is strong and a breath of fresh air from the mediocre rap ... read more
