As someone who loves brutal death metal, this is quite possibly the worst album I’ve ever heard. Gives falling in reverse a run for their money
The month this album came out, I don’t think I listened to anything else. Top tier metalcore with phenomenal production, vocals, and lyricism
One of the worst black metal albums I’ve ever heard, genuinely embarrassing stuff
Genuinely unbelievable album, blew my already high expectations out of the water (no pun intended). Quadeca's evolution as an artist is fascinating and it's been beautiful to watch how he's evolved over the years. Quad did.
The instrumentation and production are beautiful, but Bon Iver’s voice just doesn’t do it for me. I can understand the hype around the album, though
I was initially scared to listen to this album because I was afraid it would be a disappointment. After losing someone like Isaac, I really didn’t know how BCNR would recover, but this album shows how talented the often less-recognized members of the band are. This blew away my expectations, and I’m very excited to see how the band continues to grow.
My favorite vocalist of all time, hands-down. It’s awful that we lost him so soon, this album has made me feel things nothing else has
I usually love hardcore but the melodic parts just ruin every song. I like the message that the album is going for, and there are some cool moments but I can’t get past how much of a clusterfuck this is.
THE doom metal album. Incredible production with perfectly apocalyptic and nihilistic lyricism that fits within the dark soundscape perfectly
After listening through all of Ihsahn’s catelogue, this one stands out as particularly unfocused and without a clear vision. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy the beginning and ending portions of the album, but the middle part just doesn’t feel like it fits in with the rest. Celestial violence is a phenomenal song, though, and Einar Solberg adds a lot to the songs he’s on
Rarely does a solo career produce works of the same quality as the group project, but this album is a clear outlier. It feels completely distinct from emperor, and special in its own way. The production is stellar and instrumental work is astounding, not to mention Ihsahn’s incredible vocals, both his growls and clean singing.
Really loved all of Ihsahn’s stuff before this, but this one just didn’t do it for me. There are a couple standout tracks, but it just doesn’t feel nearly as high quality as his 4 previous albums
Such an underrated entry in opeth’s incredible catelogue, the riffs are headbang-worthy and the production is STELLAR. There are multiple 10+ minute songs but they never get repetitive or boring. This is easily the best opeth album of their beginning run.
What can I say about this album that hasn’t been said already? It’s utterly perfect from beginning to end and deserves the spot of greatest rap album ever. The jazz infusions make this album what it is, and it would be impossible without Kendrick’s genius lyricism and incredible flow
The single greatest live album ever. David Byrne adds so much personality to every track, and the live renditions of each song add to and improve upon the studio recordings.
There’s a reason this album is referred to as the best metalcore album ever. This genre is full of a lot of garbage but it’s clear that converge has created an outlier. The vocals and guitars throughout the entire album are crushing and heavier than I thought metalcore could be. Perfection.
Death’s magnum opus. No death metal album since has matched this album’s lyrical genius. Chuck’s vocals are unreal and match the tone of what this album is going for perfectly. It’s clear that every aspect of this album was carefully placed, and there isn’t a single part of it that doesn’t fit, which can only come from a perfectly clear vision going into the making of the album. RIP Chuck Schuldiner
Probably the best melodic black metal album I’ve ever heard, the production is perfect and the riffs are incredible
