I've been listening to Gorillaz for as long as I can remember and this album definitely did not disappoint. Being released at a tumultuous time for everybody, this fun and eclectic mix of singles created a welcome reprieve for me. The massive amount of features, especially how prominent they are, works a lot better than it did in some prior projects.
There isn't really a central theme I can find when listening to the different tracks but each one brings the strengths of their features as well ... read more
The first impressions I had of this album came from the singles released in the lead-up to the full project, 'We're Not In Orbit Yet', 'Saturdays' and 'Love On the Run'. I listened to all of them prior to hearing the album but 'Love On the Run' came out barely 2 weeks before the album dropped so I didn't get a full experience like I did for the previous ones. I was hooked on 'We're Not In Orbit Yet' right away, the spacey atmosphere really supports the themes explored in the lyrics and it was a ... read more

Although previous albums have portrayed such powerful and raw emotion more, this project shows ... read more
After listening to 'Villains', '...Like Clockwork' and 'Songs for the Deaf', I started to listen to the remaining albums from QotSA in a blend rather than singling them out like I had before. This was the project I returned to the most out of all of them, its experimental and psychedelic sound is a further expansion on the sounds they explored in 'Songs for the Deaf'. I sound like a broken record saying that the introduction track is truly astonishing, it is a 5 minute, hypnotic, self ... read more
This is the third album that I heard from QotSA and going into it, similarly to with '...Like Clockwork', I was not accustomed to hard rock or any similar genres. This made a lot of the tracks off of this album hard for me to connect with on a first listen, which might be considered a shame but reflecting on it, I am glad that I went through that struggle. It shows that when listening to new music, even if I don't get it at first I shouldn't just give it up in favour of a more comfortable ... read more
