I feel like this album is really slept on. The production on this album is so forward looking it's crazy
This album is a very successful evolution of his sound into a darker and richer place.
I liked this album a lot for the earnest perspective it gives into New England suburban life. The songwriting is compelling and honest throughout the album, but Hackensack and Valley Winter Song especially resonates. The production and arranging is nothing special, but it doesn't really need to be. It's a good, honest album.
