I feel like this album is really slept on. The production on this album is so forward looking it's crazy
This album is a very successful evolution of his sound into a darker and richer place.
I liked this album a lot for the earnest perspective it gives into New England suburban life. The songwriting is compelling and honest throughout the album, but Hackensack and Valley Winter Song especially resonates. The production and arranging is nothing special, but it doesn't really need to be. It's a good, honest album.
It's rare that you get to see the bones of something that became so much better in this way
A wonderfully ambitious and cohesive project that rewards relistening
the album has some clear peaks, but gets lost in the noise in the back half
i've never met anyone who doesn't enjoy takanaka's music. this is his most summery album (no surprises there) and thus manages to be even more enjoyable and uplifting
i understand why this album isn't for everyone, but it's so campy that i love it
the first couple of songs on the album convince you of its promising potential, but from there the album has its ups and downs.
some songs are definitely better than others, but those good songs are GOOD
the album fails to differentiate the feeling of different tracks as you get deeper into it, leaving it feeling somewhat repetitive. but not a bad listen
several solid songs, but parts feel underbaked, which makes sense given the circumstances
it's as if early panic! at the disco was reincarnated, but this time on even more cocaine
