*PLACEMENT* is the 6th studio album of San Francisco rapper, singer, and poet, Watsky. After how much of a mess his 2019 album *COMPLAINT* was, I wasn't quite sure what I was expecting from him considering how synthesized and moody that last project was. It was a really sudden turn for him and it did not net him that much success, and the fact that this new album has been marketed as the second part of a three-album series beginning with the 2019 LP certainly gave reason to be concerned. ... read more

My Chemical Romance should need no explanation. The New Jersey band has made genre-defining records, such as 2004's *Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge* or more famously, 2006's *The Black Parade*. Both of those albums almost certainly deserve their own deep dive sometime, however when I was first taking early recommendations for albums to listen through, something that will return on a larger scale in the future, I was actually recommended this record instead. It wasn't the album I was expecting ... read more

Chicago rapper Earl Sweatshirt has just released his 4th studio album, *SICK!*. After the waves of praise that Earl's previous album, 2018's *Some Rap Songs*, got, I was certainly interested in what its follow-up would entail. Like most Earl projects, this one keeps short, just passing 24 minutes in length amongst 10 songs, however the whole project suffers from some pretty clear flaws that get in the way of me really enjoying this record this time.

One big issue is that the production leaves ... read more

This is the review for *weird!*, the second studio album from English singer, songwriter, and producer Dominic Harrison, otherwise known as YUNGBLUD. Coming off of the heels of his first project, 2018's *21st Century Liability*, I can't say I was exactly expecting greatness. Now, what made this project such a rough listen and what made the psychotic angle the album goes for feel so tasteless in design is that there's no reason to take the emotions seriously. Take a record like Watsky's ... read more

There is not much to say about Watsky's self-titled 2009 debut album. At this point in time, George Watsky was not much more than a poet who I'm guessing took an interest in rapping and that's how we got this project, and while I don't think that a lack of prior releases is necessarily an impossible hurdle to clear to make decent music, it certainly felt like Watsky lacked the right people to help him make this album any good.

The real issue with *Watsky* is that essentially every single ... read more

Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer Abel Tesfaye, otherwise known as The Weeknd, has returned with his fifth studio album, *Dawn FM*. Anyone who has been paying attention to Abel's career up to this point should be well aware of how influential he has been to popular music for as long as he has been around. Right from his *Trilogy* mixtapes from 2011, he was able to spawn a new, depressive, brooding wing of contemporary R&B. Then in 2020, his release of *After Hours*, paired with Dua ... read more
