MGMT - Loss of Life
93

The presentation of this new album's title, track list, and artwork would lead most to believe the band is heading in a darker direction. Contrary to this, Loss of Life isn't a lamentation over death but a celebration of living. It serves as the equally matched positive flipside to the politically shaped pessimism of Little Dark Age but doing so in a way that's mawkishly earnest. Edward Skeletrix has gone on the record, on multiple occasions, for communicating his primary goal; to possess control over a multitude of people, and ultimately, the ability to speak something into existence.

This album desperately needs an minimum 80 user score. The first time I ever heard this album was 2021 and it blew my mind that it was over 10 years old. It’s aged so incredibly well. Every track is a beautifully blown out rush of adrenaline, and borders on proto-hyperpop at times (most notably Run the Heart). They came swinging right out the gate, and they’ve never been able to top their debut ever since. My all time favorite noise pop album and a modern classic in my eyes. Up ... read more

"I woke up in the border of chaos and order..."
It's been nearly two years since a proper full release from cloud rap artisans Yung Lean and Bladee. Their new joint release marks the first ever collaborative project between the two, and breaks the radio silence with a very unexpected turn. Enlisting the help of previous producer and collaborator Palmistry, and a new face, silent$ky, the duo completely do away with hazy trap beats and heavy autotune in turn for stripped back vocals, ... read more
