Detour is finally out after this “all over the place” rollout, and it is definitely one of the highlights of 2026. Kim is in her best creative era atm and I believe she can finally dream bigger and bigger with her next projects. Cohesion is probably the biggest issue here, but it’s easy to understand why right?
Bella Kay is still following the nice approach she has been recycling for some time by now. And it still bangs, I just think she needs to focus on making her ideas more cohesive when put together. Her projects are already insanely concise, so cohesiveness is almost a pre-requirement. I really love “Promise?”, but the other tracks are only decent, and that is that.
Big Fish Theory by Vince Staples explores the idea of the big fish in a small pond, mentioning the isolation of fame and displaying topics such as racism, institutionalism, self-destruction, corruption, etc. About the colors used on the album cover, orange and blue are opposite colors on the color wheel, having a complementary relationship. I love seeing artists dedicated as her, that are able to create amazing artworks without even having huge investments. This is enough proof of how art is art independent of the money invested in it. Art depends on human effort to be amazing and it's evident how dedicated she is in this project. I really want to become an artist in the future. And she is a big inspiration.
I really feel like this is the best soundtrack of all time, this was beautiful from start to finish
