have you ever listened to an album and there's just that moment where it instantly clicks with you and you're like "WHAT"
that was me with this album
this album feels like it dips its toes into so many different elements of house. it makes for an incredible listen, i genuinely do not know how ive gone so long without listening to it.
the best way i can describe this album is that feeling when you wake up sweaty from a 5 hour “power nap” that was supposed to be 30 minutes. clothes on, not able to get a single proper thought out.
in all seriousness though this is very thought provoking and interesting
artemis comes in SWINGING.
artemis morte is the closest you’ll get to sebastiAn without it actually being sebastiAn. this guy has perfected the sound. you could genuinely make someone believe that this was a long lost sebastiAn album if you gaslit them enough.
usually, that can be a deal breaker. wearing influences on your sleeve too much can make an album feel unoriginal and boring. however, he manages to recreate the sound so well while still maintaining originality and uniqueness. ... read more
i think people are overhyping this. maybe it's just me but i don't see as much depth in this compared to his last couple of projects. it's still a VERY FUN ALBUM, but it just doesn't really hit me as much as his other albums have.
edit 73 -> 62 it got worse
𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 igor. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴gor, one might say.
edit: 76 —> 92 the realization on this one hit me like a TRAIN
edit: 92 —> 79 it kind of wore off on me after a while
you truly haven't experienced this album until you've seen them play it live. so breathtaking.
it's not my favorite out of their discography but when it hits it HITS
it's genuinely embarrassing how it took me this long to listen to this album as a french house fan. i'm ashamed
julian you are supposed to be my goat what is this.
how do you go on an interview and admit that you only tour with the strokes to make money for the voidz then proceed to drop this unorganized trash under the voidz. this is horrid
the greatness of virtue and tyranny was that it was ORGANIZED chaos. it was experimental and genre-bending, but each track still tried to be coherent and enjoyable. this throws all of that out the window and goes down a completely different route. i know that this ... read more
very fun album. a little overrated, but it's very dreamy and does exactly what it needs to do.
edit: 75 -> 83 i ascended some of these tracks are so beautiful
i hate to review things poorly because of the artist alone but im doing it with this album.
some of these songs are actually quite good. however, this dudes background RUINS this album. it sucks. over time, it's also just become more and more cringe in terms of its humor and it just sours everything much much more. while some of these songs are decent, most are horrible, and it doesn't help his already controversial past (and even present!)
The decent songs don't save this ... read more
this is another one of those albums where i went into it thinking i wasn't going to like it too much. MAN was i wrong.
i don't know what it is about this album that i like. it could be the experimental, raw sound. it could be the vocals. i literally have no idea. it just has this fun little aura surrounding it and it intrigues me. love love love this album
edit 87 -> 95 this album is incredible
edit 95 -> 100 this might be one of my favorite albums of all time now
after six years, this continues to be my favorite album of all time. it feels disrespectful to call it an album, because it’s truly more than that. it’s an experience.
at a face value, it’s just a normal rap album. however, if you take the time to look deeper into it, you’ll fall into a massive rabbit hole. a whole screenplay, a short film, hidden tracks, coding, you’ll find everything. if there’s one thing that glover can do, it’s turn basic rap ... read more
