Production still isn't fantastic, but LEAPS AND BOUNDS over the rest of the album
I was really sick of hearing Noah Kahan at the peak of his "Stick Season" powers, to the point where I originally gave Stick Season a 54. However, I try not to be a hater, and I liked him a lot as a human, so even though I rated his big breakout album poorly, I wished well for him. I'm happy to report that the main observation I take here is one of artistic growth.
The brilliant lyricism from Stick Season (one of the few things I liked initially) is even further improved upon ... read more
This song is a classic case of "Shut Up and Dance' by Walkthemoon
Now that it isn't inescapable, I don't hate it anymore
I like Zach Bryan as an artist, but I'm so tired of the tendency for country and hip-hop artists to release well over an hour of material at a time, while only an EP's worth is noteworthy. So we're just reheating other people's reheated nachos, and the critics are eating it up? hmmm
Took a minute to get used to the vocal tamber, but once I did there's some really cool ideas here! A bit theatrical and cartoonish sure, but it's fun!
Denzel is the star of the show. I agree with a take I've seen saying that this feels more like Denzel putting some people on more than it does a group effort, but it's fun regardless.
Shout out to Smino for the Michael Kidd-Gilchrist bar, guy knows ball.
This fuckin rips. First three songs are perfect. I liked this more than I like Jane Doe (I've listened to both once, I know that's probably blasphemous), but I tend to lean Sludgier these days than straight up Mathcore. I honeslty feel like Jane Doe is almost a grindcore album it's so all over the place, and I know that's what makes it great, but this is more my speed. Exceeded my expectations by a long shot. Incredible stuff, and may end up being my AOTY before it's ... read more
I'm a very casual Harry Styles fan, and I must say, even though I didn't love it I respected the hell out of it. Pulling from some really cool influences. I heard LCD, Daft Punk, som Flaming Lips, and some TV Girl. Risks were taken. Neat stuff, even if the execution wasn't perfect.
